Birmingham people are always asking me what's the fun stuff going on in town with relations to music, so I figured I might as well start hyping the stuff I love is worth your time/attention/$$$. Hopefully I'll maintain an enthusiasm for doing this, but here's my picks of the week for February 15-21:
Immediately deleted the Substack I setup yesterday after someone informed me they're monetizing hate group shit so I figured I'd just coast on my Medium page until I ultimately decide where I want to land. Was trying to embed some Bandcamp links and nothing was working so boo to that.

I was in Athens, GA solo on Valentine's Day last year to see Drive-By Truckers and had not considered the dining dilemma of the day. Knew I wouldn't be able to get in anywhere nice/cool, so I thought, "I'll go to Raising Cane's since we don't have those at home." Friends, there was a wait at Cane's.
Friends, I have some bad news. I think it’s going to be difficult for me to find a place to eat tonight that is not Burger King or Pizza Hut.

Forgot to follow up on this, but was in the neighborhood during the daytime and snapped a few pics of the new Lakeview Marina Music Park venue opening up in the spring. Cannot fathom 500 people in this space, but that's what some AI 🤮 result spit out on Google. Trailers are food trucks I think.

Gonna have to check this one out. I saw Tomeka Reid and Mary Halvorson play a free gig in Chicago several years ago (Mary also plays on this album) and it was great.
