I only know it because my dad was weirdo and used to recite parts of Longfellow's The Song of Hiawatha which includes the line "On the shores of Gitchigumee" and I remember asking him about it as a kid.

When Bob Dylan, Wilco & MMJ did that minor league stadium tour a few years back, we were one of the few cities where they played a traditional venue. Was kinda bummed.
