A delightful mix of literary advocacy and cosmic curiosity, served with a side of existential musings.

"Terrible things are happening outside. Poor helpless people are being dragged out of their homes. Families are torn apart. Men, women, and children are separated. Children come home from school to find that their parents have disappeared."

This. It's why "grab 'em by the pussy" didn't bother them. Why mocking a disabled man didn't bother them. Why ripping babies from their mothers' arms didn't bother them. Why Jan 6 didn't bother them. Why shooting immigrants as they run away doesn't bother them. It's all aspiration.
When your MAGA friends say they don't believe Trump is in the Epstein Files, what they mean is they know Trump raped underage girls, but they don't care. Some MAGA men think it's cool. They like that Trump is making it ok so that they can do it and get away with it, too.

If you cheat, may you cheat death.
If you steal, may you steal a woman’s heart.
And if you fight, may you fight for a brother.
And if you drink, may you drink with me. 🍀

Jane Fonda said, and I agree, "Have any of you ever watched a documentary of a great social movement...and asked yourself, would you have been brave enough to walk the bridge?... we are IN our documentary moment, this is it," accepting her lifetime achievement from #SAGAwards.

It is perfectly legal to know your rights and to educate others about them, too.

EVERYONE in the United States, citizen or not, has rights. I will not allow this administration to intimidate us from helping you know about them.

I have been having the most difficult time trying to fall asleep lately... is it the concussion I'm recovering from or the slow-motion fall of democracy being blasted at me from every little box in my phone? Both make my head hurt

This is what the government did with 120K+ Japanese Americans in 1942.

I know. I was there in those camps.

just stumbled on a real jaw-dropper of a line in an essay -- “The corollary of being interested in a great range of things is to have sympathy with a great range of outlooks” -- and that, my friends, is why reading is so important.
