At first I thought this was just a small fly, but when I got my macro on it I found this alien creature. I think it's in the genus Poppea, a type of treehopper. Found at @casabentbill.bsky.social #CostaRica #nature #insects

The United States can do a lot more to recover critical minerals from existing mining operations. Most minerals are not separated because it is uneconomic to do so. Small steps to find out what's in mine waste, new processing techniques, & incentives to separate would go a long way. wapo.st/4g2cbrL

"Despite Trump officially activating FEMA on Sunday, FEMA has just 86 total staff deployed at this point [to Texas], according to figures shared with staff Monday evening...In the past it would normally be in the several hundreds at this point in the disaster recovery process."

No one is forcing you to donate to any fundraiser anywhere in the world. And there are some scams out there, as I note. But GoFundMe verifies every campaign for people in Gaza using ID, receipts, and bank info before money is released. Do whatever you want, but putting "Gazans" in quotes is gross.
I get many pleas from "Gazans" on the regular here on Bluesky. Are you and Gizmodo planning to verify them all so we know which are not scams?🤔
