There's a weird left-QAnon thing starting up centered around dubious claims about the 2024 results popping up at the periphery of the internet. I feel like we're gonna hear more and more about this so just laying down my understanding of it now.
I think its basically a hoax.

Conspiracy theories aren't limited to one political ideology. Anyone, left, right... even experts who study misinformation, can misjudge the legitimacy of a story. (Yep, scientists too 🫣.)
However, there are ways to protect yourself from getting suckered by pseudoscience and fake news. A long-ish 🧵

This was the first Star Trek movie I watched as a child & I remember the whale story line hitting me hard. 🥲
So glad they’re on the comeback! 🐋❤️

Another species no longer on the global Endangered list:
Humpback whales (Megaptera novaeangliae).
A few decades after a Star Trek movie where the central conflict was the total extinction of the humpback, their numbers are rising fast enough to put them at "Least Concern" on the IUCN Red List.

New project completed! Easy pattern, just k1, p1 until it was long enough for my head & 15 stitches wide. My hair is ratchet today but my ears will stay toasty despite the wind.👂🔥

Up next in our Creepy Critters 🎃 is 'the' black-widow spider, which SURPRISE! is actually 34 species in genus Latrodectus ("robbing" + "biter").
They're found on every continent but Antarctica.
So why are they "widows"?
Because sometimes, the females eat the males after mating.

I guess this thing doesn’t count anymore… why are folks not suing ICE for these warrantless 24 hour holds & raids on their homes and businesses??

I’m torn between eyelashes to make dissection tools or India ink to dye blood vessels… 🧪
...or maybe the standard tool is like $600 for little piece of plastic. So I want to know - what's the weirdest or most unexpected thing you've used for your science experiments? 🧪🧬🦠

Instead of buying cheap, disposable products, they should buy higher quality versions that result in the employment of craftspeople. If they buy high-quality items, they create jobs for makers, sellers, and repairers.
Otherwise, these trades could disappear.

You can register to vote up to 10 days before an election in NYC. Wow 🤩 it’s like they actually WANT people to vote there! 🫶
This should be the standard everywhere. Better yet, we should be able to register ON Election Day!! This 2025, records are electronic. #MoreAccessNotLess

TIL that "chives" aren't just the tops of green onions. They're a separate species in the same genus. And GREEN onions are a different species from WHITE onions.
Let's talk about Genus Allium, which includes garlic, onion, shallots, leeks, scallions and chives, along with another ~1000 species.
