Hi! We are 3Dneuro - a small band of neuroscientists who hunted spikes in behaving animals for years before saying: This has to be easier! We design electrode drives, implant systems and behaviour setups that are robust, easy to use, and open-source. Or: Ephys for everyone! Check us out: 3dneuro.com

📣 R2drive now comes with a serial number. This enables individual, traceable, quality control.

Well, a sliver of fun on an otherwise rough situation.
I’m hearing rumors that thousands of people are calling the ICE tip line to report little green men and other aliens from outer space. That’s not why ICE set up this number, so you should absolutely NOT call that tip line to report those types of aliens. 👽

I repeat—do NOT call the below number! ☎️

A statistical error known as pseudoreplication appears in more than half of recent mouse studies on neurological disorders, according to a new study. Peter Kind and Constantino Elfetheriou tell Lauren Schenkman why researchers should pay attention.

Sounding the alarm on pseudoreplication: Q&A with Constantinos Eleftheriou and Peter Kind
Most studies of neurological disorders in mice erroneously treat multiple samples from a single animal as independent replicates, according to a new analysis. But scientists and journals can take…

Northwestern has not received any NIH funds since March. No written communication about why or what can be done. Thank you Ben Singer for raising awareness at #ATS2025

Kilosort4 detects a LOT of neurons, I recorded 15k neurons in one year 🤯 Traditionally, one would curate these detected units to see if they are well isolated single neurons. This is not feasible anymore, so today let's look at three options that are out there to automate this process! 🤖👇

I hate the direction lab equipment design has gone in recent years.

I don't want touchscreens, I don't want wifi integration, I don't want centrifuges demanding to know what time zone they're in.

I just want reliable instruments - with physical buttons - that do the one task they were made for.

New to Bluesky, we were supposed to first write an introduction post. Enjoying unfiltered content instead.
Gen Z is amazing. I asked a (paid) intern to bring me 50 blank pieces of copier paper and when she brought them in they were warm. Turns out that, rather than count them, she set the copier to 50 and printed blank sheets. Genius.
