It gets even worse—sometimes our kids at the hospital would get sent to one of these programs. Men show up at 4 AM and basically kidnap them. All kinds of abuse has been documented at these camps. They’re traumatizing, not therapeutic—it should be illegal to offer abuse as mental health treatment.

i can't get over this these people knew no one would question anything they were doing, even including extortion, as soon as they identified as white adopters of a Black child. they knew that in the eyes of many they'd be beyond scrutiny until it was too late.
