Climate news is mainly bad - we need to talk more about the solutions which will improve people’s lives.

I heard recently that the ideal ratio in communication for action is ´ 3 parts joy to 1 part doom’.

There is enough bad news around, so
we threw in an extra 2 parts of joy for free.

The benefits of climate solutions—perhaps especially switching to clean energy—are many and profound. New research suggests we should redouble efforts to communicate those benefits. Sounds right to me.

Today is International #SafeAbortion Day.

Access to safe abortion protects the health of women and girls.

As with all other health services, women and girls should be able to access safe and respectful abortion care, when they need it, without fear of harm, punishment or recrimination.
Abortion is healthcare. Abortion should be regulated like other health services so that women and girls can access safe, timely and respectful care.

Mental health impacts of the climate crisis are rising.

There is a lot we can do - see www.who.int/publications....

But there are limits.

We also need a rapid shift to renewable energy - it’s cleaner, now cheaper, and maintains a liveable planet.

In a new paper we show how misinformation derails support for public action on climate change by casting doubt on the scientific consensus (which undermines public opinion).

Disinformers attack expert consensus because they know it works.

Neither is true.

There was a hint in 2024 that China's Carbon emissions had peaked due to their massive roll out of renewables, which continues. Now the data from the first half of 2025 confirms that CO2 emissions in China are decreasing. 🧪🔌💡☀️💨🌊🔋
CO2 emissions in China have decreased from a peak in March 2024 to June 2025. The reduction is due to the deployment of massive amounts of renewable capacity, particularly solar PV.
