I read an article a long time ago comparing the sexual liberation of Elvis and the Beatles on repressed teenagers in the 50s and 60s to the wild dances of the shakers back in the day, saying that it’s part of a cycle of social life. Anyway, Testament of Ann Lee is worth checking out.
