They don’t want to survive as a party.

They have made very clear that their immediate - and longterm - goal is to achieve indefinite dominance of our system and our society. They’ll follow 47 further into the abyss. They’re in far too deep to turn back now, or for the foreseeable.

I think so, unfortunately. Today’s college seniors were 12 years old when 45/47 came down the escalator and immediately plunged our overall dialogue into the deepest sewer. They should have it hammered home that there used to be a better way. That “angry illiterate adolescent” wasn’t always embraced
Do political science profs have to explain to their students that, for most of American history, it was actually borderline unthinkable that elected officials and their spokespersons would constantly talk like trashy reality show contestants?
After calling Schumer a "Palestinian," Leavitt refers to "Gavin Newscum." So she's just ripping off her boss's smears now.

The SNAP fight at the Supreme Court is officially over. Trump's Department of Justice acknowledges that SNAP is now fully funded through the end of the fiscal year and thus withdraws its request for an additional stay. The end of the shutdown mooted the case before SCOTUS could touch the merits.

I think the core point is that trump had a honeymoon in which capital/media/political opposition all decided he was the one true voice of america. he did a lot of horrible things with that (including murdering 100s of thousands), but didn't consolidate power...

You’re working at a state propaganda factory.

you could fact check this — there aren’t 30 million illegal immigrants and there is no evidence that the presence of an immigrant in say houston has any impact on housing in madison, wisconsin — or you could note straightforwardly that this is just nazi rhetoric

There's a tendency among a certain type of poster to assume everything they hate about politics and the state can be blamed on avarice, and I'm here to tell you it's actually worse than that.
I continue to disagree with this. The goal of mass detention is mass deportations. A private prison company leasing 100 beds to ICE gets paid the same if the beds are filled by 100 people for a year each or 1,000 people for a few days each. They don't earn more with long-term detention.
It's not about deporting them. It's about detaining them indefinitely and enriching Prisons for Profiteers and the grift the Convict in the Oval Office collects per detainee.

There's no problem Vance won't blame on immigrants, even if he has to invent the problem himself.

A few weeks ago he was insisting immigrants lived in cramped squalor and their (white) neighbors had a right to be upset about that.

Now they're so rich they're snatching up all the good houses? OK.
