So yeah... back on BlueSky. I do a bunch of things, most notably on Youtube/Twitch, #accessibility consultant, foreign #languages, #coding, #cybersecurity . Let's hope I can find my people :) Posts will include all these things and more. Oh right, fully #blind screenreader user, as well.
Let's try something fun. I'm a #blind #coder, #hacker, #contentCreator, #gamer and hey, I even leave the house sometimes! :-O
#AskMeAnything #AMA . Anything goes, believe me, i've seen it all. How am I typing? How am I wiping? go nuts. :P

A: "This feature doesn't currently work
b: "Thanks for reporting it, we'll fix"

A: "This doesn't currently work for #screenReader users and hasn't for a year now"
b: "It's important to us and is on our roadmap, kthxbaii"

Anyone who's ever reported an #accessibility issue will recognize this.

Two years ago I took 7 `
` variations (W3C & WHATWG HTML) and reported their output across 7 screen readers, for a measly 49 variations:

I made one anti-recommendation (and fixed MDN’s). I also explained the pattern I use.

Blockquotes in Screen Readers
TL;DR: This post does not assert the correct way to code blockquotes, it will only demonstrate how screen readers announce some existing patterns. Test Details The first four examples are lifted from ...

I keep forgetting to keep an eye on here :) although to be fair, it is kind of interesting to be a #accessibility professional posting on a social medium that has an #inaccessible #captcha keeping #screenReader users from signing up independently. Any way to provide feedback on this?

I do wonder if we need to move to a model of awards for #accessibility for specific groups of players to further incentivize innovation. These are a great example, I can't play any of these as a #blind person, am still happy things are improving, but what does in-game accessibility really mean here?
Congratulations to Atomfall from Rebellion, for winning the Develop:Star Awards 2025 for best in-game accessibility!

Read our review by @abitofaccess.com to learn why Atomfall is a deserved winner in this category.

Doing a lot research into #languageLearning from a #blindness perspective for a video. Use of subtitles, efficacy of #language immersion without sight and things like #srs in both latin and non-latin alphabets are all part of this and it's a wonderful rabbit hole to dive down. #accessibility

On stream, I tested the #accessibility of various #linux distros, to see if an often heard argument against #mac and #windows corporatization, "just switch to Linux"holds up when you're a screen reader user. One of the more popular options, #ubuntu , ... does this: youtube.com/shorts/C_I3T...

Bluesky is that social network I keep coming back to, only to feel like the kid in the corner with nothing to say. I guess I just haven't found my peeps yet :) I talk about #accessibility in various domains, mostly #gaming, #ybersecurity and #webdev . I value #altText and I stream.

Yeah, quite of few of the excuses in your story are ones I've heard when trying to convince some clients we should follow web accessibility guidelines. It's an uphill battle when it shouldn't have to be.

Difficulty settings are part of games accessibility but there’s SO MUCH more to it. Can you pause the game? Can you change the font size? Can you avoid repeated inputs? Etc etc.
I am begging people, from game devs to game journalists, to regular players: Stop equivocating difficulty options with accessibility.

While difficulty options can make a game more accessible as a side effect, they are are not a substitute for real accessibility options.
If a dev adds difficulty options to make their game more accessible for players then that’s a huge win.

#accessibility is a term we hear a lot, but where do you start? When do you stop? What does it mean for different types of people? Where does tech knowledge come into play?
I'll be talking about this and more in an hour over at twitch.tv/IC_Null and youtube.com/@blindlyCoding #webdev #selfpromo

If all this effort around pushing games to their graphical limits instead went into #accessibility, how many more accessible games would we have?
Not that graphics shouldn't improve, but still. #A11Y
