I have WCAG shirts for sale.

One that moves the “Punch Nazis” to the same line (this one’s new), but available in white on whatever and black on whatever.

And two variations of the MASH logo (yellow or black text).

Get them as weird holiday gifts!

Frankly, this is moot since the current administration already has the data and will ignore the court order. Its overly-broad seizure was intentional.

I’ve been hesitant to share this since the post is strictly visuals sans alt text, but I think the examples it shows are worth it for those designing GUIs.

Remember, using a native HTML `

My post deals with the inverse of the others I shared — unstyling the native HTML so you don’t need the ARIA construct.
Use Legend and Fieldset
It’s 2022 and people are still afraid to use <fieldset> and <legend>. I understand the layout challenges can be frustrating, but swapping to an ARIA group role will result in a more inaccessible exper...

Ok, apparently there are dueling implementations.

This one handles internationalization better than the one I shared last night, but this one works less well in forced-colors mode.

Qualifier: I am endorsing neither, I simply appreciate the efforts.
💡 CSS Tip!

My take on the fieldset/legend layout using minimal HTML.

This is a neat visual effect.

If you use it to replace a legend / fieldset (such as in a form) for even more novel styles, then make sure you give the wrapper an `aria-labelledby` pointing at the heading and a `role="group"`.
I helped my pal @chriskirknielsen.com fake a fieldset-legend layout (where the “legend” overlays and clips a containing border).

My technique, plus a few alternatives: cloudfour.com/thinks/fakin...

I had *totally* forgotten about “web units” in an early WCAG 2.0 Draft until Steve Green’s comment:

Really, it was a thing:

Seriously, search for it in the 2006 draft:

I was unaware the Kavanaugh Stop was also the Kavanaugh Breaking and Entering.

(The man is a US citizen.)
Sunday, at least 7 ICE agents stormed a house and took an elderly man out into the freezing cold, wearing only his underwear and a blanket.

He was a member of the Hmong community, which came to the area from Laos in the 1970s after siding with the US in the Vietnam War.

The 2025 Web Almanac mistook me.

I did *not* say LLMs provide better image descriptions. I cited SeeingAI and Be My Eyes as tools for undescribed IRL uses.

I said LLM-generated captions could be better than craptions. I mentioned abstracts / reading-level changes, which could be summaries?
