Sitepoint is still advocating for the document outline algorithm:
www.sitepoint.com/headings-in-...

It was removed from WHATWG HTML in 2022:
adrianroselli.com/2016/08/ther...

I again encourage people to ignore SitePoint articles on accessibility.

Hey! @lflegal.bsky.social, @rejinae.bsky.social, and @chanceyfleet.bsky.social gathered 36 authors to write about ethics in digital accessibility.

Chapters, authors (I’m one of them), pre-order:

Out 26 March 2026.

Using only an automated test is one sign, but citing the `title` attribute is the whole sign store. I checked the source page to be sure.

Anyway, always treat accessibility marketing claims as suspect.

I have WCAG shirts for sale.

One that moves the “Punch Nazis” to the same line (this one’s new), but available in white on whatever and black on whatever.

And two variations of the MASH logo (yellow or black text).

Get them as weird holiday gifts!

First use of the fireplace and first time I’ve sat in front of a (controlled) fire in my own home since I was a teen.

First snow of the season, first snow in this house, first use of my lidded cappuccino tumbler, all resulting in my first backyard snow fika.

False choice (with a value judgment in its wording).

You can, & should, continue to raise demonstrable & valid concerns about the accessibility of LLM output and _also_ consider if (or how) you can improve it (he offers options).

But no free labor from me.

“Windows Copilot Serves At Best Half an Answer to Screen Reading Users”
theideaplace.net/windows-copi...

Describing when a pattern in a design system is ‘tweaked’ by fractured teams for their very unique and special use case but which really only warranted different corner radii and shadow colors.

Did my duty as a citizen of what is ostensibly still a democracy and voted this morning. Then rewarded myself with an extra walk for a cappuccino and a non-GF cardamom knot (for which I will pay dearly later).

As a platform, Shopify needs to give its hosted sites more than guidance. It needs to help prevent foot-guns.

But with 80 axe-reported possible WCAG violations on its home page, Shopify is clearly not ready for that.

Shopify also maybe shouldn’t promote shops on its home page with so many errors.

The Firefox link preview prompted me to “See more with AI” (first image). So I tried it.

I gotta say, since it’s a preview of my site, I’m not upset by this result (second image).

Probably the best thing I did this week was make the OpenAI anus / Atlass butt plug logo into a Goatse gag.

But then Microsoft comes along and outdoes me with this vitamin-yellow-tinted puddle of spunk and I am just… wow.

Well done, Microsoft.

There, I wrote 715 words on it:
adrianroselli.com/2025/10/open...

Also, we know ‘AI’ companies chose anuses as logos, but did OpenAI have to double down and make its browser logo a butt plug?

I mean… what the fuck?

I, too, think some of the efforts of the CSSWG have gotten ahead of the use cases and I, too, think catching our breath would be good.

It’s a few days early for Torontohenge, but it was still pretty sweet.

Holy shit, it’s @rudy@mstdn.ca !

You might remember him from such hits as co-founding evolt•org at the end of the last century. Or perhaps for tracking Ontario and Toronto history. Or maybe the Doomsday Algorithm. Or possibly tracking Torontohenge.

It took two days, but finally had my first fika at the new place. All my gear was spread across boxes and bins over five rooms and three floors, but I did it! Tiny victories.

A clue this was not reviewed by anyone with skill, the WebAIM article it references in paragraph 3 *also* explains that ARIA is a strong signal for *worse* accessibility.

Author is “Webflow Team,” another clue.

Holy shit, #Webflow.

I understand you may not have anyone on staff to review this LLM-generated ARIA explainer, but you’ve mostly just convinced me your product is a lawsuit-in-waiting.

I’m sorry most of your customers won’t recognize that.

A reference to this GitHub blog post has come at me a few different ways, eg:

But that URL is 404:

Having read the archived post, I am hoping GitHub pulled it as rubbish:

12 hours of #id24 hosting in the rear-view, so another late fika sugar hit to make it through the last four hours of watching.

Also, I had precisely two twitchy mis-clicks (but with no negative outcomes).
