Anyway, always treat accessibility marketing claims as suspect.
How is Formidable Measuring Accessibility? Formidable measure accessibility using WAVE (an automated scan) and a short manual checklist. The WAVE result showed zero errors, which they appear to treat as sufficient. Their manual checks include mouse-free operation, TITLE attributes, and screen reader labelling. While it’s great that they are making some effort, these checks touch only a few WCAG Success Criteria, and the gap between their claims and actual conformance remains significant.

Describing when a pattern in a design system is ‘tweaked’ by fractured teams for their very unique and special use case but which really only warranted different corner radii and shadow colors.
The frustrating thing is that none of this was an issue at the start of 2025. Microsoft appeared to be coalescing around a fairly standard user experience for the multitude of Copilot experiences available to customers. The foundation for the Windows app was a well-structured HTML experience with headings and more that made reading answers quite straight forward. Sometime after the start of the year, the Windows Copilot app appears to have changed some of the foundational technology used that has caused this sorry state of incomplete answers when read with a screen reader. One can only wonder how long this busted experience will be allowed to exist. It is already several months too long in my opinion.

Did my duty as a citizen of what is ostensibly still a democracy and voted this morning. Then rewarded myself with an extra walk for a cappuccino and a non-GF cardamom knot (for which I will pay dearly later).

As a platform, Shopify needs to give its hosted sites more than guidance. It needs to help prevent foot-guns.

But with 80 axe-reported possible WCAG violations on its home page, Shopify is clearly not ready for that.

Shopify also maybe shouldn’t promote shops on its home page with so many errors.

The Firefox link preview prompted me to “See more with AI” (first image). So I tried it.

I gotta say, since it’s a preview of my site, I’m not upset by this result (second image).
