There's one of those "just asking questions" guys in the pub. What a wanker.

Everyone's writing down the answers, for some reason.

I was surprised to see a White butterfly flying over the sea whilst on the Sark ferry yesterday, but seems it is more surprising I didn't see more! Reminds me of driving to work in Kent through streams of Painted Ladies in 2009.
Fortunate to witness an astonishing spectacle at the beach tonight: tens of thousands of (mainly Small) white butterflies pouring in over the sea, as far as you could see. Pulses of butterflies swept in-off everywhere, an extraordinary sight.

We decided an experimental approach to this question could be cool. So Andrew strapped a taxidermied badger on top of an RC cart and drove the cart toward incubating curlews both while playing prairie dog ground-based predator calls and not (control).

We lovingly call this the badgerinator.

274 points. I used to be obsessed with filling in counties in my geocaching days, this was satisfying but harder on the memory and I suspect I made some errors! Does highlight I ought to visit more Scottish islands at some point. smstone0.github.io#/uk-map

Leapt out of bed with great excitement at 00:20 last night when I heard swans flying by! They were heading east & I managed to grab my phone to record. Thanks to @sconebirding.bsky.social for ID pic: they've 'fence staples' in the spectrogram that look to be a Bewick's thing. #nocmig #norfolkbirding
