Nature-friendly farming; data; waterbirds; inverts; rare breed farming; working beardies; stuff I find amusing. Xennial. Norfolk, UK. Views my own (if that).
274 points. I used to be obsessed with filling in counties in my geocaching days, this was satisfying but harder on the memory and I suspect I made some errors! Does highlight I ought to visit more Scottish islands at some point. smstone0.github.io#/uk-map

Solway tidal bore moving gulls, Golden Plover and Barnacle Geese on Sunday 16th March - what an amazing natural spectacle! An otter followed it too, but didn't capture that on camera. #ukbirding

Leapt out of bed with great excitement at 00:20 last night when I heard swans flying by! They were heading east & I managed to grab my phone to record. Thanks to @sconebirding.bsky.social for ID pic: they've 'fence staples' in the spectrogram that look to be a Bewick's thing. #nocmig #norfolkbirding

Celebrated #WorldWetlandsDay with a walk with @samueleglington.bsky.social this evening along the restored River Nar at Castle Acre Common, a chalk stream reconnected to its floodplain.

Our working Beardie had a day off farming as a WAH/birding dog today, with a potter about the forest at lunchtime before the rain. She seems to have enjoyed the rest after herding yesterday.

Halfway through lambing. We lamb outside. Spent the weekend sorting out and moving the ewes and lambs to another field, leaving the pregnant ones behind, so things are a bit more orderly now. I attempted to write all the numbers down, but as ever fieldwork isn't my strong suit. Many swallows!

I came here for the moss feed as per CEO interviews, so for my first post here is some moss from outside my front door. #mossmonday
