To be born is to begin to die, and to die is to finish dying; this is intolerable to human beings, and we have to cling to something; precisely, one of the evils of life is that it forces us to cling to it without conditions, even when life is of terrible quality.

Meritocracy. Meritocracy hurt them.
Why do students automatically jump to “I’m failing your class” after one bad/missed assignment but multiple great assignments? Who hurt them?

The question is not whether humans will become extinct, but rather when they will. If the anti-natalist arguments are correct, it would be better, all things being equal, if this happened sooner rather than later...

Just wanted to say--as I occasionally did on Twitter--that I hope everyone out there is doing okay. It's a brutal, cruel world, and things are going to get very bad over the next few years (and, ahem, decades/centuries, if only because of climate change), so please take care of yourselves. <3

Human industry comes with a high price. Everything we create eventually gets cast aside as refuse, ultimately polluting and poisoning our only home. We are a scourge, and the world is better off without us. Gradual, self-imposed extinction is the answer. #ExistenceIsSuffering #Antinatalism

Blocking isn't censorship, it's praxis.

People who argue anyone should be allowed to talk at you however they wish, in your home, are people who aren't allowed in my home.

Blockity block.

I've been thinking about this, this sense of actual hopelessness — and not all from the US election. Not that we suddenly don't care or should stop caring about people, but the reality that we're doing it while we simultaneously say goodbye. Our appetites have been too great, now comes the check.
Chatting with a friend of mine who's a leading figure in the climate change movement. We agreed that the best thing at this point is to pivot, more or less entirely, to palliative care for humanity/civilization (a view very similar to Roy Scranton's). It's over. So, what do we do?

America gets a lot of comparison to the late Roman Republic (which is fair), but I also argue that the US gives strong *Athens in the 420s BC vibes*. Cleon, anyone?
