White People’s Performative Ignorance Is Exhausting—Opinion
Disbelief over authoritarianism in America isn’t a cutesy personality trait. It’s a confession: You haven’t been paying attention.

This very very very bad. I cannot stress this enough. I said that they crossed the Rubicon with arresting Ras Baraka several months ago. This is very bad and portends more bad things for regular people.

It has been shown time, and time again, that when you are able to provide basic support for folks, such as UBI, not only are they able to thrive, but there are significant increases in measurable indicators of economic health, such as purchasing power.
Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:

I think it’s very interesting how emphatically these conversations are about inevitability—it’s time, it’s happening, like it or not, and in particular, a sense of: “You have to.”
When it comes to treating an AI product as a person, I assure you that I do not have to. And you do not have to.

it genuinely sucks so much in this country how often you only learn about a super fucking cool person because something horrifying has happened to them
The superintendent they just kidnapped is a former Olympic athlete who runs footraces with the kids from his schools while wearing a maroon suit and a bowtie. This is quite simply about the people in power feeling threatened by Black excellence.
This is the man that ICE just detained. This isn't about catching criminals, it is about Ethnic cleansing www.iowapublicradio.org/news-from-np...

One of the big asymmetries in US politics is how Republicans getting more votes from men is a major crisis for the Democratic party that must be addressed, perhaps by abandoning some values, while Democrats getting more votes from women is a nonissue for the Republican Party, not worth discussing.

Canada Post “lost” 1 billion dollars last year?
How about, “it cost Canadians 1 billion dollars to have a national postal service” which works out to costing about $25 a year per person (population of Canada in 2024 = 40 million). Seems like a pretty reasonable cost to me.

"Canada Post is on track to lose money" Hum. Duh. It cost less than a toonie to send a letter across Canada.
"Canada Post is a service and not a business" was common knowledge until late stage capitalism brain rotted most people into think if it ain't making money for shareholders, it's failing.

I find the "war on neurodivergence" kind of scary and exhausting.
Autism being the first one people seem to target with their blatant falsisms.
Neurodivergence is often a spectrum/range of symptoms, and there can be many overlapping types of neurodivergence seen in an single individual.
