For years, advertising has been how Stereogum made money to pay its writers. While we made progress moving away from that model, Google AI search has decimated the business almost overnight. Today we relaunch with a greater focus on subscription. We’d love your support: stereogum.com/2478838/ster...

American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

This year’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductions landed on a solid metric for determining who’s worthy: is your best known song so good that even Twenty One Pilots can’t completely ruin it?

Snocaps is the indie supergroup I didn’t realize I needed right now, but am loving.

If you’re pro-Trump, you’re pro-starving Americans. I didn’t make the rules, the Supreme Court did, and they’re also pro-starving Americans.

Damn. The Supreme Court didn’t even say let them eat cake.

Tomorrow, Sat. 11/8, a murderer’s row of talented comic book creators will be signing at REVENGE OF COMIC BOOK BLOCK PARTY! I’ll be there 1-2pm, but folks will be signing ALL DAY! Comics! Pinball! Live interviews! It’s gonna be a blast. Way better than your other plans (sorry, your other plans).

Presence is a clever take on a haunted house movie. I dug it, and give it extra credit for a great use of the song “Covet” by Basement.

I love Bruce Springsteen, but the super-niche 80s rocker goes lo-fi movie I want is the night Paul Westerberg got drunk enough to write and record “If Only You Were Lonely.”

THIS SATURDAY AT 1PM, come see me and all of these amazing talents at Revenge Of’s annual Comic Creators Block Party! Comics and pinball! If you want more, you’re being unreasonable!

Cold take for a niche audience: Kiff is a delightful cartoon and the comedy bridge from Bluey to Bob’s Burgers.

Diversity just won the World Series for the city that fought fire and ICE this year. I love it.

Want to go, Dodgers!!! And way to go Dodger post-game interviews for making me tear up with how much they’re all raising each other up!!!

Also, that Nike “Squabble Up” commercial was a chef’s kiss.

Professor X on his worst day — AND PROFESSOR X HAS HAD MANY WORST DAYS - is better than Gov. Greg Abbott on his best.

It’s a given that Texas governor Greg Abbott is a garbage human, but him using A.I. to dress up as one of the X-Men:
a bald man says " i took that personally "
Alt: Kegan Michael Key as Michael Jordan saying “I took that personally.”

Saw 50+ Rumis, dozens of Zoeys, a smattering of Miras, and whole groups of Saja Boys at my kids’ school’s Halloween parade today. It’s great, and I plan to wield them all as evidence the next time some animation studio opts for yet another reboot instead of an original idea.

Playlist reminder:

“Zombie” by The Cranberries is NOT a Halloween song due to subject matter.

But “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)” by Backstreet Boys IS a Halloween song due to 90s Monster Mash music video.

I love bi Halloween, where I have ten costume ideas, but procrastinate and end up wearing cuffed jeans and a Gremlin mask from 10 years ago.
