We have been played and betrayed by them. They are either naive and stupid or downright deceitful. #Enough

It's not a coincidence that Schumer, the leader, voted no, but Durbin, the whip, voted yes. It's also not a coincidence that everyone who voted yes is either retiring or is not up for reelection until 2028.

This was a calculated move by Schumer; those senators were only chosen to fall on the sword.

After yesterday’s surrender, we’re launching the largest Democratic primary program that we’ve ever run.

We will not back any Senate primary candidate unless they call for Schumer to step down as Minority Leader.

If you’re as pissed as we are, join this campaign to rebuild the Democratic Party. 👇
Democratic leaders have failed us again. It's time to get new leaders.
After yet another capitulation by Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats, it's clear we need new leadership capable of mounting a serious opposition to Trump's authoritarian regime. We're launching our la...

@durbin.senate.gov Your legacy in the Senate will be this cowardly capitulation to anti-American serial liars who want to burn Congress to the ground. I hope the public heckles and jeers you at every public appearance for the rest of your life, and you find yourself persona non grata in society.

Democrats are demanding new leadership after Schumer failed to stop a GOP-backed funding deal that doesn't guarantee continued health care subsidies. Progressives like Ro Khanna blasted him for giving in and warned premiums could soar as a result.

“If you can’t lead the fight to stop healthcare premiums from skyrocketing … what will you fight for?” said Ro Khanna.

Where are the calls for Schumer to step down as minority leader from Democratic electeds? So far, I’ve seen @rokhanna.bsky.social.

Anyone else?

This is what being a U.S. Senator looks like. If you can't comprehend what Sen. Murphy is saying or independently "read the room" in terms of the wishes of the electorate, please resign immediately so that someone else can.
I got back to my office after the vote last night and recorded this. There's no way to sugarcoat what happened. And my fear is that Trump gets stronger, not weaker, because of this acquiescence. I'm angry - like you. But I choose to keep fighting.

Been calling @durbin.senate.gov in D.C. nonstop since the office opened at 9:00, and have yet to get through. Hopefully the inability to reach the D.C. office means he's getting an earful from Illinoisans, and not that he is so cowardly that he's shut off the phones.

The administration can fully fund SNAP. It just doesn't want to.

This is a tale as old as time.

We can make healthcare affordable, childcare free, and give hungry kids food.

The people at the top just don't want to.

They want that money for billionaire tax breaks.

Is the shutdown over? Not yet.
Tonight’s vote was only step 1 of 5.
There’s still another 60-vote hurdle, amendments, AND then the House.
Pressure matters right now—especially on Kaine, Rosen, Hassan, Shaheen.
Stay loud.

So @underthedesknews.bsky.social is urging folks to call your Senators especially if they are the 8 yes votes and demand they vote no on the next round. This isn’t over. Like I said earlier: it’s boots on necks time. We raise hell and we don’t abandon folks w/ ACA.

@durbin.senate.gov

Sadly, this doesn’t seem unrealistic after everything we’ve seen from MAGA and now this wholly inexplicable (on a rational basis) fraudulent deal that 8 of you are supporting.
It really does seem like there's a decent chance that these senators screwed us because they don't want their personal Thanksgiving plans to be disrupted.
Anyway a great way to radicalize people is for them to realize that you just abandoned their chance at being able to access and afford health care because you didn’t like waiting in line at the airport.

Angus King is an independent but he caucuses with the Dems. There’s a reason of them who voted yes are retiring. It’s likely a bunch more Dems wanted this but ones who face the least consequences fell on the sword. Root out who wanted this. It’s more than 8.
Below are the eight #Democrats who voted to raise health care costs for millions to make it unaffordable. These eight cowardly traitors caved into Republican bullying and sadism and betrayed their constituents. Every one should be primaried.

Only eight Dems voted for this, and that is because of how hard we worked in the last many hours.
