It was infuriating. I tried to get through all day to his D.C. office. @senate.durbin.gov phones were either ringing off the hook with infuriated constituents, which he ignored, or they were made inoperable, which would sync with the cowardly position he took on this vote. It's shameful.

It's not a coincidence that Schumer, the leader, voted no, but Durbin, the whip, voted yes. It's also not a coincidence that everyone who voted yes is either retiring or is not up for reelection until 2028.

This was a calculated move by Schumer; those senators were only chosen to fall on the sword.

One of the NH senators behind this betrayal said that Schumer was kept informed at every turn. He knew & either did not or could not control his caucus. That's failed leadership.

Also, JUST the exact # to reach 60, all of whom don't face re-election until at least 2028, if ever, was coincidence?!
