Not the literal Bronze Age, but still cool!
A Mayan scribe (right) and his instructor (left) – the dots and lines between them form an early speech-bubble, and it's thought the glyphs refer to sloppy work.

So here we have a 1,500yo cartoon of a writer getting a bollocking from his boss!

Back when, Bill Mantlo had a habit of occasionally plagiarizing stuff in comics, under the impression that it was fine because everyone did it. But he made the mistake of plagiarizing an Ellison story in HULK, and the shit hit the fan, because Harlan actually read it.

So, I saw this yesterday. The movie is supposed to be an experment of a movie shot in one take. Or, at least, made to look like one. (You can only film for so many minutes before you have to add more film to the camera.) It’s a good movie.

I enjoyed it a lot, though story wise it’s fairly standard.

So, if you’re like me (and I know I am) you’re probably thinking about how influential Frank Robins’ 6 year run on Detective and Batman was and I think if you want a good illustration, look no further than Batman: The Animated Series.

I got sick and stopped posting here for a bit, but I'm back. More Halloween goodness coming up.

Thinking once again about this unpublished portion of my 2022 interview with Art Spiegelman. God, what I would give to go back in time and be a fly on the wall for this specific conversation between Spiegelman and Frank Miller…

For the 7th day of Halloween (sorry for missing days, I was very, very, sick) I'm going to add a story to reading pile. Brother Voodoo from Strange Tales 169 to 173.

One of like, roughly five and half thousand tries at something you'd see in these bronze age anthology titles.

Nothing for day 6 because I'm sick and I feel like a port a potty on the last day of Lilith Fair

Have a good night y'all

Came across this on twitter and I think it's an important point. A non-0 number of people will identify with the villain of a work

Sometimes, the villain is more popular than the hero!

In my opinion, both the Hays Code and the Comics Code were designed to minimize this

For the 4th day of Halloween, I want to talk about something personal. A few months ago, a loved one had to go to the ER. They wouldn't let me in the waiting room with them, so I had to go to another part of the hospital and wait. It was late at night and so I dug into the Vampirella Archives

For the 3rd Day of Halloween my true love gave to me The Monster of Frankenstein Tee-Pee-Bee!

this is what Kirby wrote about "the hairies" he introduced when he first took over Jimmy Olsen and it really highlights what he was going for regarding "no, the rest of DC, the kids are actually alright"

For the 2nd day of Halloween, I'd like to direct you to Black Magic, a 1973 series dedicated to reprints of stories from Black Magic by the defunct Prize comics that ran from 1950 to 1961.

I just bought this. In addition to talking about 70s and early 80s comics, I want to use this account to highlight current comics artists whose work I’m enjoying.

Most of my comics enjoyment comes from indy creators posting either here, Twitter, or Instagram. There's a lot of creativity out there.
Hey guys I just finished my first ever 50 page long form comic! This was months in the making and I’m super excited to share it with you guys. Available for digital download through my webstore: https://beetlemoses.bigcartel.com/product/druzy-digital-download

So, I saw someone I follow post a pic with their Halloween stuff with the caption “Happy 1st Day of Halloween” and that made me think of the horror/monster comics of the 70s. Marvel had a line of b&w magazines with a monster bent. It’s where Man-Thing made his first appearance.
