Important article, comics colleagues. Where we stand right now in this Book Ban culture war that shows no signs of abating.

I've said this from the beginning: this began as a classic Comics Witch Hunt. When this started in Texas & Florida in 2021, My Friend Dahmer was one of the targeted books.

I'm not sure which of you need to hear this, but:

If you push yourself to your limits and burn out for a company, you are trading years of your future productivity for minor gains in the present.

Burning out will _fuck you up_, it's like brain fog or depression, and it takes years to recover

Fantastic advice thread on how to improve your comics panelling craft
So my first tip for this is just Read a Lot of Comics. have comics in your bookshelf (real or virtual) that you can flip through for inspiration and see how other artists are working and what/how they fit visuals into a panel. I read a lot of manga on my phone, and every time i see a page that--
Do you have any general tips on how to improve comic layouts/paneling? I want to start making proper comics but paneling is something I really struggle with (especially when it comes to making sure my sketch compilations fit the panel size while still being effective/showing everything I want)

Been KO’ed by back-to-back travel, illness and general cursed-2025 shenanigans; in the respites I’ve been making a 3D model of Alexander to use as reference, and even in its half-baked stage it is paying off

OMG what the heck!! This is so cool to see experimental art/archeology being built upon my Tumblr/Twitter rambling theory on this style of ancient Greek earrings. 😍 www.tumblr.com/reimenaashel...

half of it is slavery. the model it all comes from is white men know how to run things, and all mistakes come from the servant class being unable to realize the vision. it's colonialism, it's chattel slavery, it's deskilled labor, it's the auteur. property as exclusion, power as the right to exclude
Once you start thinking of AI as a war on humanity, on human thought, on human inquiry, on human labor, on nuance and critical thinking, it slots in pretty seamlessly with the right wing ideological project, oligarchical political projects, big tech's political projects, etc

Been around the traditionally published block long enough to have an edition of my graphic novel remaindered (aka PULPED) 🧍‍♂️ this “ouija board” edition was originally for libraries and hard for me to even acquire, so I’m glad to be able to rescue a few for my online shop!
