Proud owner of physical copies here: If you've never read The Carpet Merchant of Konstantiniyya, do yourself the great favor of reading it now. Heart-breakingly beautiful both in illustration and in characters/story.

Historical romance and romantasy friends especially, get in on this.
🌹 10 years ago, I launched THE CARPET MERCHANT OF KONSTANTINIYYA, and it changed my life forever.
To celebrate, the 10th Anniversary Edition of my very first completed #webcomic will begin February 18, 2026 - updates every Wednesday + Saturday.

Aw yeah thank you glad that helps!! I think the main thing is to remember that we are cooking something with purpose and folks gotta trust us 😅 even if the process or ingredients are unorthodox

Going on a socmedia hiatus and then returning to it with the desire to do a minimalist, old-school approach to posting/promoting while two webcomics need to be made…this is gonna be interesting to figure out

Aaaw thank you!! ❤️ happy to share this comic again!

I will listen to experts, but if they don’t consider the themes and goals of my project, then Idk how much of their advice is useful. Much like learning the difference between a good vs bad editor.
February 10, 2026 at 1:34 AM
The way I’ve approached it,, the bad faith critic may have their niche expertise, but I am the one who has the superior knowledge about art and storytelling, which is the primary overarching outcome they are forgetting to consider in their analysis.

Kinda feels important to know that ReedPOP's parent company has ties to ICE. There's some things we can do in the comics community to make our voices heard. 1/3

Democratizing the arts looks like universal income, low-barrier grants for both emerging and working artists, well-funded municipal arts & recreation programs, vibrant third spaces, and a well-funded public school system with progressive curriculum.

Not a free pass for corporate-owned slop engines.
Every instance of "AI democratizes the arts, you're classist and ableist and a gatekeeper for trying to stop it" is a slap in the face to the literally centuries of poor, disabled people making art on the margins and a crass lie in service of a machine that strips down and regurgitates dreams

We don’t dance on the grave of NFTs enough. I had a year where I was repeatedly told by bozos I was going to be irrelevant and extinct for not embracing them, I should be allowed a victory lap.

Still super proud of everyone involved in this! One thing not mentioned is that behind the scenes, the co-op was able to help move a lot of creators off HW hosting so their comics are protected in the long term- collective action WORKS.
The Hiveworks Artist Guild has released a public statement alleging years of labor abuses, financial mismanagement, and misconduct at Hiveworks at the hands of Xellette “Xel” Velamist and Isabelle “Isa” Melançon. Read their full statement at:

This is such a small thing in the face of everything else going on...

but the 57th NAACP Image Awards nominations were announced today and they left off the illustrators of four out of the five graphic novel nominees.

I remain dissatisfied with how comic artists are treated.

Turns out forcing yourself to sketch pages of horses from photographs and copying James Baxter's brainwork can change you deeply as a cartoonist.
January 1, 2026 at 5:33 AM
I've shown a lot of growth from being a cartoonist who couldn't draw horses to one who gets hype with the idea of drawing horses when given the opportunity, all within 3 years.

Underrated point of discussion with the AI + social media uproar is giving thanks to patrons of the arts, especially non-artists, who are willing to put in the effort to support artists at a time when it has never been easier or more normalized to do the opposite.

This is a really much needed service!!!!
I am founding a not-for-profit website where independent comic creators and small publishers can easily sell their works to libraries, plus provide other services. Called (for now) the Comics Librarian Commons, this will be an online hub bringing independent creators and librarians together.
