Hey, just an aside - please don’t feel like you have to follow me because I followed you - you don’t, this isn’t a trade.

That’s it. I could probably discuss more about why I “follow” people1️⃣, but that’s just really subtext.

Reminds me of how John Oliver once described Donald Trump as “the Forrest Gump of human misery.”

This this this this this.

He's had underwater approval every single month he's been in the White House, even when everyone thought the economy was good. He retains support from the strongest partisans...but every president gets that.

He's an unusually unpopular politician, and always has been.
Trump only won in 2016 because of Jim Comey and the electoral college

He lost in 2020 by a wide margin when incumbents did well

He won in 2024 by a narrow margin during a major global anti-incumbent backlash

He has never been popular

what impressed me most today was that a huge crowd of people who mostly had never been tear gassed managed to retreat without running or trampling each other. under a cloud of gas that was not moving (zero wind), people held onto each other and walked blind down a street packed tight as sardines
Just got gassed pretty good at the labor union anti-ICE protest in Portland. Massive march, 5-10k strong. Vibes were very much liberal rather than radical. Lots of kids and older folks.

They gassed the whole crowd as soon as it marched on ICE, in broad daylight.

They took his bunny hat and Spider-Man backpack. His mom snuggled that hat onto his head, helped him get that backpack on, and sent him to school with a kiss. Now she can only see her son like this. And he keeps asking the guards for his bunny hat.
Liam Ramos when ICE kidnapped him / Liam after 5 days in the concentration camp.

FREE HIM NOW. FREE THEM ALL.

As I’ve noted before, I got my titers checked last year and my mumps protection was zilch. My measles number was so high they said I must have had an exposure recently.
If you're an adult who was vaccinated, you should get your titers run to make sure you still have immunity. Vaccination can wane and/or you may not have generated a strong immune response. That was ok when we had herd immunity but we're likely about to lose our "measles free" status.
Vaccinate your kids, you friggin nuts.

Measles cases this year have reached nearly 26% of last year's total cases, which totaled 2,255.

Until 9/11, you could cross into Canada from Detroit with a driver's license. You're supposed to show your birth certificate or passport, but 9 times out of 10, they'd wave you through.

9/11 and the Bush admin's "War on Terror" changed everything. Can't remember the last time I've been to Windsor.
For a very long time you did not need a passport to cross back and forth to Mexico and Canada. I am Gen X and El Paso folks my age remember crossing to drink in Mexico for the night and then coming back home. There are families who continued living in the same place when the border moved.
The people who are saying shit like "well it's either this or the borders are totally open" are doing their best to convince America that we should have completely open borders.
