Rewatch complete of Clarence Fok’s uneven but ultimately entertaining action/comedy. Biao and Wah have amazing screen fighting chemistry and give us an all-timer final fight but it’s Maggie Chung who unsurprisingly steals the movie with an absolutely terrific performance.

The Testament of Ann Lee is perfect for folks who adore bravura musicals (The Lure, Better Man, Hedwig and the Angry Inch) and First Cow’s bittersweet depiction of traits (empathy, subverting gender roles, choosing kindness over cycles of violence) cannot survive American/European power structures.

Finally caught up with this found footage flick. Some great jump scares and intense moments that fall solely on Mark Duplass. The movie wouldn’t work without him and his incredible and unnerving performance combined with pitch perfect runtime that doest overstay its welcome.

Teresa Woo and action director Stanley Tong deliver and lesser but ultimately entertaining sequel. More of a buddy film but the finale goes full on “girls with guns” and delivers some truly bombastic action and stunts! Moon Lee as always delivers, she’s one of the best ever!
