Today is National Biscuit Day, and it’s about time that I populated this account with biscuit (cookie) sets from the past few years. Here are some of my favourites. 🧵

First up, a set inspired by the delicious designs of William Morris and John Henry Dearle.

If anyone's looking for evidence they can look at Scotland.

Scotland's wealthy were *constantly* threatening to move to England if taxed more, possibly the easiest move anyone could do to avoid tax.

Even the Scottish Government's own estimates of how many would actually do so were far too high.

I’ve just finished @goingmedieval.bsky.social’s excellent The Once and Future Sex, and I’m here to recommend it to you all: it’s engaging, interesting, and the final chapter is a call to recognise and challenge the patriarchal structures around us. This passage particularly resonated with me:
To tell ourselves that we are the newly liberated, women-respect-ing heroes is to ignore millennia of women who got up, did their jobs, took care of their kids, and were every bit as engaged in and integral to society as men were. We obfuscate these women and their history if we tell a story about ourselves rather than the past. The stories that we tell about the history of women and work, like those about beauty standards and sex, show us in the best possible light but often have very little to do with history. If we are to confront these false narratives, we first have to make room in our minds for the factual story of women and work. Only then can we begin to understand why our narrative differs so much from the reality, and what we are avoiding when we write it.

Get your useless leader to sort his principles out then or get rid of him.
If your party decides we do not have rights then expect a reply from trans people.
Labour was founded to stand up for the have nots in society. It needs to return to those principles or they're finished.

Their obsession with this tactic fascinates me.

I'm in a left-leaning constituency and in 2019 I got an "Only Labour can stop the SNP" leaflet through the door, when a week earlier I'd got the SNP leaflet that - unlike Labour's - promised an opposition to austerity. Why would I want to stop that?

Labour Right sabotaged every general election since Miliband. They didn't want to be in government. That's partly why we had Tories for 14 years. When Cameron won again in 2015, he was really surprised. He quit soon after the Brexit vote.
