I cannot believe there are still people in my mentions arguing that boycotting an election because the candidates aren’t addressing your issue is a way to get them to pay attention.

I want to issue a challenge to all of us to go one day without spending all our energy pointing out conservative hypocrisy (it's been well established) and instead try to talk about anything else that feels productive. Just one day, as a treat. Just to see what happens

al: i don't think so, tim. that's a common misreading of butlerian theory, which refers to the linguistic "performative act," e.g. naming a ship. however, the symbolic interactionist school does understand everyday life as dramaturgy

From Wired a few weeks ago. A lot of the people who I was told for years were the adults in the room are being asked how they want to be remembered, and that answer is very clearly "cowards."

The MSNBC commentator saying that most political violence has historically come from the left just once again showed how we suffer from failing to learn history. Lynching, pogroms, race riots, the political violence that ended Reconstruction, and against the Civil Rights Movement. Come on.

This is not normal. This is not okay. And we are going to fucking fight back.

That crime is way down in the cities Trump is militarizing isn't just about refuting his bullshit justification. A lot of variables go into crime trends, but these cities are clearly doing something right. Imposing a major disruption while things moving in the right direction is particularly stupid.

IT DOESN’T

IT DOESN’T DO THAT AT ALL

IT REFRAMES PREVENTABLE DEATHS AS INEVITABLE AND VICTIMS AS WILLING MARTYRS WHO ARE ACTUALLY BETTER OFF DEAD NOW

IT IS A DIABOLICAL THING TO SAY IF YOU ARE IN A POSITION TO STOP THIS SHIT AND REFUSING TO DO IT
Fox News' Trey Gowdy: "The only thing that can give us any modicum of peace at all is those two children are with the person who loved them the very most, the person who created them, that being Jesus. That is the only thing that can possibly give parents in the future any modicum of peace."

Walz is a good speaker, but the approach he's taking in this clip, with a few tweaks here and there, is available to pretty much any Democrat.

This isn't the language of the party's left wing. It's just the simple rhetoric of an opposition party in a time of domestic crisis.
Tim Walz: "I always get in trouble for it and I'll continue to say it, I don't think we do any favors when we don't name it -- these are fascist policies."

Louisiana has to build three new natural gas power plants to accommodate the "AI" data center that Meta just crammed through because said center will use *Three Times* as much electricity (and, thus, attendant resources) as the *Entire City Of New Orleans*, every year.

Y'all this isn't sustainable.

AI is for writers who don’t like to write but want to have written, and readers who don’t like to read but want to have read.

Into the sea with the whole miserable joyless fucking lot of them.
People are reading AI-generated synopses of books and then claiming they read 100 books in a week. This is how the abolition of books began in Fahrenheit 451: classics were condensed into five-minute summaries for those too busy to do the reading. Later came the burnings.
