So thrilled with how these came out. It was tough to pick favorites. I'm not walking next week, but y'all celebrate with me! Got my master's in communications with a 4.0 from @syracuseu.bsky.social.
Meanwhile, in Alabama, local law enforcement are re-opening detention centers and working with ICE to house undocumented immigrants. @meganplotka.bsky.social for @al.com www.al.com/news/2026/01...

Georgia Fort's is chilling, and it's being overshadowed by the equally chilling arrest of Don Lemon.

A GoFundMe is being set up for Fort. In the meantime, you can support her work directly – without paying massive fundraising platform fees – through her website:

The vibes are pretty bleak right now. It's tempting to hide in bed, doomscroll, or get into fights with people online.

What helps me:
-Walking my dog
-Eating food I enjoy
-Donating to mutual aid
-Short to-do lists
-Lifting weights
-Reading a book
-Making plans with friends
-Going to sleep early

Fonzie thought he was an Alabamian. He lived for football and his fiancee and a little too much fun. I followed him to Mexico when he was deported to a place he did not know or understand. This is his story. As it is with any deportation, it is not his story alone.

I think I watched online local news reports about her a couple years ago. Awful news.
She was known as “Ms. Shirley” to her more than 5 million TikTok followers, and would share videos of herself delivering food and hygiene products from her car on Skid Row and other homeless communities in California and Nevada. https://bit.ly/4bVquhK

Holy, I cannot believe this actually happened! I won?!

Thank you everyone! I have had one of the hardest year in 2025, but the focus on accessibility, something so much more important in the big scheme of things, have kept me afloat and happy <3

But I'm standing on shoulders of giants

BREAKING: My dog only pooped once instead of twice today.
My biggest journalism pet peeve (for today) is when PR people use, "BREAKING," in the subject line of an email and the press release is announcing something like a new flavor of Doritos. Please be so for real.

In 1999, not long after Columbine, I had a mental health breakdown. It took me years to recover. (Not a secret. I've written about it.)

Unfortunately, I was too busy trying to heal and graduate from college to invent Facebook.
Yes, random person on my Facebook, I do remember Elian Gonzalez.

Ah, yes, it happened in 1999.

Facebook came out in 2004.

It's truly unfortunate I could not publicly express my outrage on a social media platform that didn't exist yet.

I know social media is supposed to be the "marketplace of ideas" blah blah blah, but it's literally making my stomach turn to see people comment on stories they clearly didn't read.

Silly me for even reading comments, right?

Long day driving into town with several meetings and no nap after. Apparently I look "drowsy" and my eyes are "red" so I'm going to bed early. Can't confirm these allegations because my eyes won't stay open.
