A federal appeals court has paused an injunction barring immigration agents from “retaliating” against peaceful protesters and observers in Minnesota.

This photo from today shows a federal agent spraying a protester on the ground with a chemical irritant.
Live: Appeals court pauses order mandating ICE not ‘retaliate’ against protesters
A federal judge previously issued an injunction meant to prevent immigration agents from detaining and pepper-spraying ‘peaceful’ observers.

We really need a fed law that makes it nearly impossible for federal law enforcement officers to dress like this. Not just the masks, all of it. And those who do cannot be dispatched absent some sort of statutorily-defined exigent circumstances, set at a high bar. No routine work like this. Ever.
Border Commander Greg Bovino stands outside a South Minneapolis gas station this morning with BORTAC officers in what seemed like an effort to draw more and more people to the scene as other agents shoot high resolution video of the crowd yelling and blowing whistles.

His personal opposition is irrelevant - his actual job is to unite the House Dems. It ain't over til it's over - now's the time to push for a strategy shift. Call your rep and ask them to:
1) Publicly oppose ICE funding
2) Call on Jeffries to whip the vote

Jeffries Won’t Whip Vote Against ICE Funding - The American Prospect
While the House Democratic leader announced personal opposition to a funding bill for the Department of Homeland Security, he won’t pressure his colleagues to do the same.

Ziff Davis is not in financial distress.
IGN wasn't in financial distress.
They are, in fact, doing GREAT.

This corporation continues to destroy people's livelihoods so it can buy more companies and destroy their laborer's livelihoods too. It has to end.

Solidarity with my former union siblings.
On Jan. 14, our parent company Ziff Davis laid off 5 of our members, days after our successful CES showing as the CNET Group. This is the third round of layoffs since Ziff acquired CNET in 2024. We’re sick of our members being on the chopping block.

I will never get over the fact that the Republican Party chose as its standard-bearer, and this country elected as its President, quite possibly the worst human being on the planet.
Trump: "ICE is gonna be too rough with somebody. They're gonna make a mistake sometimes. I felt horribly when I was told the young woman had the tragedy. But when I learned her father is - I hope he still is, but I don't know - was a tremendous Trump fan. It's terrible. It's so sad. It just happens"

Brooklyn Park police chief Mark Bruley: "We're hearing people being stopped with no cause & being demanded to show paperwork to determine if they're here legally. We started hearing from our police officers the same complaints. Every one of these individuals is a person of color... it has to stop"

key detail most US media isn't reporting:
"No one — certainly not the ICE agents themselves — is even really bothering with the pretext that they’re here to make the city safer. This is Donald Trump’s revenge campaign, and they’re the foot soldiers."
It’s worse than it looks in Minneapolis
But locals are organizing to keep each other safe from ICE agents.

Huge mistake by Mamdani to say clearly that a bad thing is bad. He should first triangulate the message and then remove every aspect that might offend Republicans. That's the savvy Dem consultant way.
Mamdani: "I am in support of abolishing ICE. What we see is an entity that has no interest in fulfilling its stated reason to exist. We're seeing a government agency that is supposed to be enforcing some kind of immigration law, but instead what it's doing is terrorizing people."

No idea what he's talking about, so this is what I imagine him describing his gom jabbar.
Trump: "Whoo. I'm glad my finger wasn't in that sucker. That could've dome some damage but you know what? I wouldn't have shown the pain. I would've gone back. Boy did you hear that? That was nasty. But I would not have shown the pain. I would've acted like nothing happens as my finger fell off."

He goes on to describe one of his officers being stopped when she was off-duty solely because she's non-white, harassed by ICE goons who slapped her phone out of her hand as she tried to record, only to be let go when she finally revealed she was a cop.
Brooklyn Park police chief Mark Bruley: "We're hearing people being stopped with no cause & being demanded to show paperwork to determine if they're here legally. We started hearing from our police officers the same complaints. Every one of these individuals is a person of color... it has to stop"

1. schumer spent all of mamdani's run shitting on those very same policies and

2. mamdani is literally acting on those policies AND ALSO supports abolishing ICE!

it's not! that hard!!!

This being the reality of how tariffs work aside, can we talk about how fucked up it is to call the Greenland thing a "dispute?"

The president wants to annex a Danish territory, NATO ally, with a population of 60,000. That isn't a dispute. It's insane stupidity.
“.. foreign exporters absorbed only about 4% of the burden of last year’s U.S. tariff increases by lowering their prices, while American consumers and importers absorbed 96%.” 🤡

it's okay if you're an elected politician to post about affordability if...

(1) you share what you're doing to actually, practically help people, and...

(2) you're actively working towards getting ICE out of our cities and entirely abolishing and defunding the agency.

then it's totally cool!
