In less than a year, Authors Against Book Bans has made an impact on the fight for the freedom to read by helping to transform individual passion, talent, hard work, and money into collective action. On top of some big election wins, here are some highlights from the year!
Authors Against Book Bans 2025 Wrapped. AABB won the ALAN Award at NCTE. We helped block dangerous bills in Florida, and helped to pass pro-book legislation in Rhode Island. We began fundraising to support our work. All over the country, our members spoke up at school board and library meetings, supported students fighting book bans at their schools, and pressured local officials to defend the freedom to read for everyone. If you like someone’s work, as a fan or a peer, tell them. (This is how so many of best relationships began!)

It will always catch them at a good moment. Because rejections are hard. Making art is hard.
