Thank you so much, Nicole!
I spent a good chunk of my Christmas binging A Philosophy of Thieves by @franwilde.bsky.social! HIGHLY recommend to any lover of great heists, complex families (biological and found), and interesting social questions through the lens of speculative fiction. I couldn't put it down!

My short story That’s Our Time, is free to read in The Sunday Morning Transport over the holidays.

It’s about a “chrono-therapist” who helps kids that have stopped aging, because their parents refuse to let go.

Just a beautiful remembrance that may make you weep. This Minnesota legislator murdered just six months ago—can you believe it?—with her husband and dog was clearly such an incredible person
I met Melissa Hortman in October of 2024. She was smart and kind. I heard about her murder in a LA hotel room and it dropped me to my knees. So I went to Minnesota and talked to her kids, parents, and friends. This is not true crime, this is Melissa in real life. www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...

I just gave my 20yo a rundown of the day's news, and he said, "It's all so dumb, it's hard to take seriously and so it's hard to fight. We'd be better at fighting smarter authoritarians!"

"We'd be better at fighting smarter authoritarians" is going to stick with me.

I have a folder called Random Ideas where I jot down pitches and loglines that pop up. Occasionally, one meets the moment and turns into a full book.

Related, the Random Idea of "Voyager comes home during DS9 s6" turned into THE PHOTONIC EFFECT, now on Netgalley: www.netgalley.com/catalog/book...

Heartbreaking and horrifying to go to bed reading about the mass shooting at Brown University and wake up to read about the mass shooting at a Hanukkah celebration at Bondi Beach. Thinking of the victims, their loved ones, and those affected by the hate that drove these attacks.
