1/9 Steve Reed and his £100bn: a timeline.
Steve Reed says he won’t nationalise the water industry, because it would cost £100bn.
👀So where does that figure come from?👀
He claims that it comes from his own department.
🚨But it looks like it came from the private water companies.

Regardless of who is in power, the UK gov are obsessed with building new houses, mostly on greenbelt land. Not talking about the hundreds of thousands of homes that are empty. Not talking about rebuilding on existing sites. Not talking about landlords, or 2nd homes. Not talking about social housing.

Why do philosophical mysteries persist?

Because our epistemic faculties evolved and evolutionary tradeoffs precisely entail excellence in one dimension purchased by mediocrity (or outright deficiency) in an opposing dimension, owing mainly to the palimpsestic quality of the basal truths

Since naming up for grabs, i think unnecessarily coy of belize or cuba not to lobby for themselves! Maybe a rotating convention where they each get three months of the year?

One of the OG litmus tests of whether AI has reached true “intelligence” was accurate content moderation. If AI has true understanding, it should easily discern posts with precision. It tells you all you need to know that Meta is removing content moderation due to inaccurate over-moderation.

Bottom trawling, dragging a heavy net across the seafloor, has been compared to burning down a forest to catch rabbits.

Sweden starting to ban this in sensitive habitats is my #EarthOptimism #OceanOptimism for today.

And they all *hate* regulation…
