Worth remembering when looking at the horrific scenes in the US right now that both Reform and the Tories have pledged to bring in ICE-style organisations to the UK if they win power

Disgraceful from @sheffielduni.bsky.social

Punishing staff twice for taking strike action, and pushing a resolution further from reach. Terrible for staff, terrible for students

Please donate to the hardship fund. But know that the union is fully behind Sheffield and supporting them through this
Well that’s me locked out. No pay for the foreseeable future, all because I refuse to reschedule lost teaching, for which I have already lost pay as part of the strike. Please donate to support @sheffielducu.bsky.social members like me at www.gofundme.com/f/heubvb-sup...

If Polanski runs for Gordon & Denton, what are the odds of Burnham defecting to the Greens and endorsing Polanski?

Not content with burning to the ground what they have already destroyed, management yesterday announced plans to decimate several more departments. No empathy, no understanding of the institution they purport to lead, and absolutely no vision of what they want it to be. Just destruction.
Myself & many colleagues are facing this at Sheffield Uni - double punishment for strike action. In the midst of this, yesterday many departments got an email announcing imminent structural reviews (ie redundancies). @sheffielducu.bsky.social
The University of Sheffield has stopped paying staff.

Not for striking but for refusing to work unpaid to make up for strike days they were already docked for.

This is punishment, not negotiation. And it’s completely reckless.

If Keir Starmer had the tiniest bit of political nouse, he would have gone all out against Trump's apalling remarks belittling the sacrifices of NATO allies, including the UK, in Afghanistan, & used it to relentlessly draw a contrast with Trump worshipping Farage

But Starmer does not have the nouse

We are further delighted to report that today's meetings of the Black Members' Standing Committee and Disabled Members' Standing Committee passed the motion. Next up: Equality Committee. #UCU
We are delighted to report that this motion passed unanimously at both the Women Members' Standing Committee and LGBTQ+ Standing Committee meetings this morning. Three more standing committee meetings take place next week where the motion has been tabled. So pleased to have such wide support #UCU
We've written a motion to open up the nomination process to UCU's advisory equality standing committees, which is long overdue. This would bring it in line with that for our decision-making NEC. More details of the process and our reasons at the link. #UCU #UKHE

Your regular reminder that Donald Trump is an insult to everything good and decent.

I was in Helmand with UK troops. Draft 'dodger' Trump's words are a gut punch to families of those killed
Donald Trump has claimed NATO troops stayed "a little off the front lines" in Afghanistan. It's hard to know whether he's ignorant or just doesn't really care.

Sheffield merely the latest university to claim that legally withdrawing your labour should actually be postponing your labour, and punishing people further. Here’s how strikes work:
1. You legally stop working for a period of time. You don’t get paid.
2. Win or lose you go back to work.

This is the broken clock example where the broken First Past The Post system actually attempts to reflect the electorate.

We are in a multiparty system now. Labour must deliver proportional representation ahead of the next election.
There's hung parliaments and then there's whatever this would be...

In other words, Reform have a ceiling and they've hit it.

They offer nothing to the people of Wales. Indeed, they have neither a Welsh leader (their last one is in jail for accepting bribes from Putin) nor any policies for Wales.

They're being found out for the charlatans that they are.
There is is something very important to bear in mind when looking at Reform's drop in the polls in Wales.

Yes, their vote share has dropped...BUT... this doesn't mean that fewer people are supporting them...
