Holy shit. This guy saved a PNG to a bird.

(he drew a bird into a spectrogram, played that sound to a starling, and the starling reproduced it back to him with enough accuracy he got his bird drawing back in their call's spectrogram) www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCQC...

A great essay about this was written in *1995.*

"...they believe that human social and emotional ties obstruct the efficient evolution of the machine. Abandoning democracy and social solidarity ... [for] a digital nirvana inhabited solely by liberal psychopaths."

The entire far right propaganda machine is spinning into action to spin this violence as being perpetrated by the left. It will be successful and by week's end a solid portion of the country will believe it was committed by someone on the left, facts be damned.
Don Jr blatantly lies about Vance Boelter: "I have a feeling that leftist Tim Walz isn't exactly appointing conservatives. Apparently he had the No Kings flyer in his thing. But he went after someone that didn't just blindly follow Democrat, radical leftist dogma."

The Universe is incomprehensible.

Handful of whitish objects with spikes: stars from our Galaxy.

Every other point of light: a galaxy hosting billions of stars.

Area of sky this occupies is approx. like you holding a single grain of rice out at arm's length.

Mild shock.
1. LLM-generated code tries to run code from online software packages. Which is normal but
2. The packages don’t exist. Which would normally cause an error but
3. Nefarious people have made malware under the package names that LLMs make up most often. So
4. Now the LLM code points to malware.
LLMs hallucinating nonexistent software packages with plausible names leads to a new malware vulnerability: "slopsquatting."

There once was this fool who spammed many LinkedIn threads with comments on how Biden violated the 1st amendment by ordering social media platforms to limit the reach of fake news about COVID etc.

The idiot argued that Trump would never do such a thing.

Right.
NEW: WIRED got IP blocked by the Social Security Administration, among other outlets covering Musk's takeover.

Federal workers are now "prohibited" from accessing our reporting on "government-furnished equipment."

WaPo, NYT, and MSNBC are likewise banned, sources confirm.
Social Security Workers Aren’t Allowed to Read This Story
New internet restrictions at the embattled SSA have cut off access to WIRED, along with other “general news” websites like The Washington Post and The New York Times.

And I greatly prefer doing environmental work to spending my time learning and practicing war, which is what I’ve had to do a lot for the last few years.

But thanks to oligarchies, that too is now more urgent than history, or environmental policy.
