It’s a serious problem that people are citing AI-hallucinated articles that don’t exist, but the problem goes deeper than professional ethics. AI is already deeply integrated into academic research tools, so a total ban on AI-assisted research at this point would mean no electronic research at all.

if you’re describing a man committing sexual assault against at least three women as a “cad who sought sex,” maybe don’t try to comment on the Epstein crimes?

I can *100% assure you* that if this report found that trans people & "wokeness" tanked the Harris campaign, the DNC would release it in a heartbeat
BREAKING: The Democratic National Committee will NOT release its long-awaited autopsy on Trump's 2024 win. The report is completed but Dem leaders decided it could distract from their winning streak, so it will remain secret. Not good.

Dem Leaders Decide to Bury Damning Report on Why Trump Won in 2024
The Democratic National Committee has completed its long-awaited analysis on what went wrong in the 2024 campaign. But in a move that will attract intense criticism, it’s keeping the findings secret.

All media coverage should just start treating the Trump-Epstein files as an admission by Trump of engaging in extensive sex trafficking and sexual assault with Epstein. He can sue, but he’ll have to provide all the unredacted files
in discovery, which will confirm that he is guilty of those things.
December 20, 2025 at 11:54 AM
It feels like releasing the Trump-Epstein files with so many huge redactions is like posting a picture of somebody wearing solid green. Have at it, internet - fill in those blanks!

The thing we need to take away from Epstein is that people with more power need to be MORE subject to the law than the average Joe, rather than less.

Presidents, billionaires, and cops should go to jail and lose everything for even the APPEARANCE of impropriety of any sort.

I can’t think of anybody who could be in the Epstein files that I’d want censored and protected

Jim Henson could be in there wearing Kermit and I’d be like drag them. Better that we know.

The nyt’s anti-trans coverage has always been Sulzberger’s political project. He and his lieutenants saw trans ppl as easy prey, a way to show the right wing the nyt was not a “liberal rag” and pay no price for their bigotry

But there is a price: the lives of trans ppl, especially young ppl.

This thread by a former NYT editor documents how the NYT came to push the Cass Review so hard over other reviews. It was dictated from the top by editors. They sidelined their own London reporter to put Azeen Ghorayshi on it.
How the nyt used the Cass report to restart its anti-trans propaganda campaign in the US:
Coverage of the report was initially assigned to a nyt UK correspondent, usual practice for a UK report. The story being prepared cited critics who called Cass a shoddy, political document that defied science
One reason the NYT has burned its credibility with trans people is that they still cite the discredited Cass report in reporting on trans healthcare. Never the German, Utah, or other systematic reviews supporting care. They also never provide the political context behind restrictions in care.

RFK Jr. must be held criminally liable for every child he murders with these policies. Mental illness or cognitive impairment are not defenses. As Secretary of HHS, it should be assumed he knows the consequences of his actions, and every single dead child must be a 1st degree murder charge,
It is utterly catastrophic that RFK Jr. plans to end CDC recommendations for most childhood vaccines.

It’s a betrayal of science, ethics, compassion, and the people of the United States.

And it was also a specific goal of Project 2025 (page 254).

dude snorted sudafed so he could stay up past 9pm and yell his affordability hoax bit at the entire country on 2x speed, and 48 hours later nobody even remembers because they’re all talking about the 10,000 “Trump” shaped redaction boxes all over the new Epstein file dump
December 20, 2025 at 2:52 AM
so basically all the redactions are Trump’s name, right?

It’s ok to let this (further) ruin Bill Clinton while also continuing to demand accountability for Trump. It’s yes/and, not either/or.

The end goal is eugenicist. RFK and his ilk know that this will make vaccines more expensive and time-consuming — and therefore marginalized children are most likely to fall through the cracks.

This is about killing kids who aren't born to privilege.

U.S. plans to stop recommending most childhood vaccines, defer to doctors
The plan, which is not finalized, suggests children get fewer shots and shifts to a model telling parents to consult doctors to make their own vaccine choices.

someone should put a big black redaction rectangle over Trump’s name on the Kennedy Center
December 19, 2025 at 11:56 PM
the thing about experiencing economic hardship and struggling to get by while everything keeps getting more expensive is who the fuck cares if some policy wonks think the entire economy as a whole is “better” (whatever that means to them) than it was as some other point in time?
yuuuuuup. I didn't want to accept this but it's hard to deny something broke in how people experience the economy.

That doesn't mean material conditions *don't matter*, but there's real attenuation of the connection between feelings and objective conditions and I don't know what to do about it
December 19, 2025 at 11:27 PM
or what?
This is part of the Trump administration’s Epstein Files release — 119 pages of Grand Jury testimony, fully redacted.

This is not transparency. This is a cover-up. Follow the law and release ALL of the damn files.

Immediately after and in response to a factory collapse that killed 1134 people in Bangladesh, Yglesias infamously argued that it’s good for other countries like Bangladesh to have lax safety standards so the US can have cheaper commodities. He’s not only a moral blackhole, he’s actively malevolent.
I think it's a little odd how people go in for this kind of nuclear-strength rhetoric over a disagreement about what issues it is most advantageous to talk about at the margin.
What you need to understand is @mattyglesias.bsky.social is a moral black hole and even then his depraved indifference brand of advice to democrats does not win elections

matt & co’s theory of how public opinion on immigration would respond to new information was simply empirically wrong.
at this point the only reasonable conclusion is they refuse to update their priors w/ new data because the data is inconvenient for them

Which so many trans people said was exactly what was going to happen
You know a thing that is very bad about this? This is the anti-trans playbook being played against women. Start with 'has the x movement failed the people it's supposed to help', then infantilize them, then make the case they can't be responsible for their own choices, then take their rights away
"Has feminism failed women brought to you by bank of america" is my MKULTRA sleeper agent activation phrase

It's incredible to me how the mainstream press will be incredulous and skeptical when RFK Jr and other HHS officials push they're quackery around vaccines but suddenly become credulous when they go attack trans healthcare. Anti vax and anti trans beliefs are all the same quack pseudoscience.
December 19, 2025 at 3:21 PM
yes, and?
Missing the deadline = breaking the law.
Deputy AG Blanche just said the Trump DOJ will miss the Epstein files deadline.

He says "several hundred thousand" docs will be released today, "and then over the next couple weeks, I expect several hundred thousand more."

All files are required by law to be released today.
