It’s not new, and it’s certainly not a fad. People have lived this experience for as long as people have existed; we’re just finally talking about it openly. You don’t have to fully understand it right away, most learning takes time, but we can always start from a place of respect. That’s how decent folks handle things they’re still getting used to.”

This is a screenshot that reads: I understand that the people lobbing my inbox with AI slop will never see this, but I want to shout it for the people in the back: In regards to the creative life and my career and art, I hate AI with every fiber of my being. I will never use it or allow it to be used in my books. I make sure it's in my contracts. When asked to blurb books, I make sure it wasn't used for the cover. I shut it off in Microsoft Word and in my emails. I HATE AI. So if you try to sell me an AI product, I hate you. :) (Because Bluesky doesn't allow enough characters to absorb my true hatred of AI. Ptoo, ptoo, I spit on it the Soulless Plagiarism Machine.)

I undid a repost for a call for anthology because I checked and it had no information on terms or payment on its page.
If you're trying to publish something and you want people to send you stories, you should at least mention:
a) publisher, if there is one,
b) payment, or lack thereof
c) rights

There's a song thrush at the front of my house. It pecks disconsolately at the ground under the overgrown leylandii hedge everytime it sees me looking out of a window.
It has trained me to rush out and throw bird food under the hedge everytime I see it.
