Popped into @waterstones.bsky.social Princes Street in Edinburgh, pleasantly surprised to see @annabelcwrites.bsky.social and @shonak.bsky.social ‘s books face out in the fantasy section.

Ended up buying a book about Tractors in space, and a smaller version of the Gruffalo than the one pictured.

Hey look! A new book!
Some of you may have caught The Packet serialised in ParSec magazine but this is its first outing as physical book. If you like stormy sea voyages and sci-fi, this is the one for you.

Many of us can recommend our Hal Duncan's sharp eye and insightful comments. A good man and thorough.
Well, it looks like I have a window for more editorial work, with nothing lined up for the next couple of months, so if anyone is looking for an in-depth manuscript critique--annotated m/s + overview report + follow-up wrap-up chat by Zoom--hit me up. One-to-one mentoring by Zoom is also available.

Very pleased to make the long list for the BSFA awards for my debut collection Call and Response and short story “The Lonesome Sea.”

This book is many things, but especially a love letter to queer and Black people, and I’m overjoyed to see it has resonated

Uncommonly pleased with past-me for leaving all the music gear tidily stowed and ready to go. Not only that, he made a template project too so there's literally nothing to set up.

Calling this FAWM-ready.

Lovely discussion last night about writing & art. One of the things reconfirmed for me was how the work we put into making art makes us who we are. It's the process, the pain and effort that makes us grow & grants profundity, not the end product.

Cheating that process diminishes our very identity.

Honestly with awards, especially popular vote ones in a small arena like the British SFFH scene, every *single* vote from a member actually can make a difference to a result!

So, if you're giving of your precious time to read and vote, I salute your awesomeness 🫡
Oh no way! I got onto the BSFA longlist!

Bring Me Home for novella, and Godzilla as a Young Man Named Mike for short!

Thank you to everyone who voted for it, I'm so grateful! ❤️‍🔥
