In an airport en route home from the World Fantasy convention in Brighton, which is an event I've enjoyed many times since my first in Minneapolis 20+ years ago. It is, as ever, a convocation of some of the warmest and most creative human beings possible. And I always leave uplifted.

I'm not known for historical fiction but a while back I wrote a story set in Glasgow in 1960, a time when there were a number of infamous murder sprees. It's a story about the human cost of working on those criminal cases involving absolutely inexplicable inhumanity.
