It's been a good day, now I'm considering whether to drill out a tiny screw that stops me from fixing a steam console. I think maybe I'll just listen to jazz and read a book about trains instead

Thinking about the sheer energy the men in my family (and some others) spent when I was young explaining to me over and over that something I was doing "doesn't actually impress boys", followed by tireless arguments for the "fact" that actually everything I did was intended to impress boys

Getting encouraging messages from designer that I'm totally on track with handing in an illustrated book on time. Choosing to believe it. Five days left and there's a crowd scene in a staircase I've been ignoring but I DID finish the horse chapter already

I'm continuing to expand my stereo with old separates, the rule is they need to be brushed metal, pre-90s and have unnecessarily awesome controls. Here's my new old radio now playing Mahler's 7th live. Just got to the bit where everyone is allowed to cough for a while

Folks it pains me to ask so bluntly, but could anyone use some work doing by me? I've got to find income for three months until my next royalty payment, and I'm not having much luck.

We should have a system where all the perfectly good cardboard boxes we are supposed to flatten and recycle after one use and all this damn bubble wrap get redistributed. How hard can that be really... New boxes are expensive unless you bulk buy, people would make a little effort and even pay a bit.

Got the new Cultural Amnesia album on tape. It's brilliant. Seriously. And BEAUTIFUL, I forgot how beautiful a well designed audio cassette can be

Time for a Turkish coffee, miso porridge and a morning of edits on a poetry book. And then for a treat an afternoon of making playlist zines for friends. Unusually good Tuesday

Picked up a second hand pair of dungarees in that excellent style where someone home dyed their garment and all the stitching stayed the same colour. Dark green with bright yellow thread. Seller confirmed that's what they did. I'll never not be charmed to see it

It’s difficult to underestimate the extra burden that this is placing on our public libraries. For example, on a daily basis library workers are now filling the in-person/human service gap that billion euro banking institutions have abdicated from to maximise their profit margins.
"Essential services are now digital by default, leaving many older people feeling locked out of their own lives."

As more of our lives move online by default, digital ageism has quietly become one of the last unchallenged prejudices, writes Fiona Daly.

I might still hit the deadline for this book. It features a raven with a camera. I got ten more days for 23 pictures and only a few of them are crowd scenes and I only got one other book to edit at the same time and I guess a few videos and

Thinking about how my parents worried that I might date and marry scruffy guys with media collections and let's face it I functionally AM a scruffy guy with a media collection and I won't even bring them a tidy wife, only more guys. It's all groovy though and my dad just got a new stereo
