We value things differently depending on the situation. A fascinating paper shows that the hippocampus feeds contextual information to the prefrontal cortex by altering theta wave phase alignment, enabling the PFC to adjust value judgments accordingly.

It’s not unusual to revise diagnoses of Vascular #Dementia in clinic, and replacing it with better diagnostic fit eg AD or Mixed. The study below suggests that diagnosis of VaD improves with experience.

Vascular dementia is consistently over diagnosed in my opinion, basically relying on radiology reports without actual review of images on PACS. I very rarely diagnose Va D, unless there are lots of vascular risk factors , falls, significant SVD , stroke or multiple lacunar infarct on CT. 1/2
