Gary Larson has always been a fan and booster of Jane Goodall. There's a funny story told better elsewhere about a misunderstanding between her and her foundation over a comic. In the wake of her passing, Larson pays tribute to Goodall with a rare new comic.

Been saying this for years, too, Doug. Sigh.
See, this is how AI will kill us all. Not by taking over NORAD and the missiles, but by fooling us into doing stupid things, after preventing the next couple generations from learning critical thinking because it's easier to ask ChatGPT.

A Soviet spacecraft launched in the 70s destined for Venus never left Earth's gravity. Now its orbit is degraded and will likely crash on May 10th.

It probably won't hit anyone, but I'll be indoors this Saturday. You know, just in case.

Kosmos 482 launched for Venus in 1972 but never left Earth orbit. The spacecraft has now lost enough energy that it can’t fight gravity anymore.

For inexplicable reasons, there is a voluntary registry of MAGA-friendly businesses. Why anyone would want to patronize fascist-sympathizers is beyond me, so we're using it to do the opposite: as a boycott list.

The conundrum: Bluesky has more interaction than Mastodon.

But: Bluesky is totally cool obeying fascist orders from Turkey's government to shut down accounts of activists who are trying to resist their fascist government.

So what's to stop bsky mods from doing the same for US activists?
