those who think they were good at it, and think it is their job to be gatekeepers (may have never understood what it is and what it is for); plus their colleagues down the hall who were not good at it and think the whole thing is a game for the mediocre to beat the system, manage the pain.
In summary, yes: The problem with education is that the people who are in charge of improving it were good at it and therefore have no interest in making real changes.
Coda to a wise thread. Part of the problem is that those most attracted to teaching tend to be those for whom schools as-is worked well.

Wow. Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels writes: “Like Soviet commissars in World War II…today's Washington-based enforcers demand maximum, sacrificial loyalty or else… It's an odd way to build a winning party. Especially when, unlike the Soviet army, you don't start with overwhelming numerical superiority.”

Putin sits in Moscow claiming that his armies have taken a town that the Ukrainian president is personally visiting. There are cowardly tyrants and there are courageous elected leaders and it is good to know the difference.
Putin said Russia had taken Kupiansk weeks ago.

Today, Zelenskyy visited Ukrainian troops there.

In the last few weeks, I’ve become increasingly convinced that Trump and his regime are totally cooked.

They can only stay in power by stealing elections—but they can only do that if enough people are willing to help them.

They’re in a downward spiral and can’t pull themselves out of it.

Truth is truth. No regrets.
On the 10th Anniversary of the Paris Agreement, you’re going to hear a lot about the progress we’ve made — people saying we “are” heading to 2.5 degrees heating instead of four.

I deeply regret to tell you that this is complacent misinformation.

You said this officer’s behavior was “beneath the men and women of ICE.”

So why was he reinstated three days later?

Secretary Noem, I await your response. Your fellow Republicans may not recognize that Congress is a co-equal branch, but I do.

Accountability isn’t optional.

Celebrity chefs told Californians that PFAS-coated pans were “safe,” and successfully lobbied Gavin Newsom to veto a bill phasing them out

They didn’t mention they all sell PFAS-coated pans.

New joint investigation with @mirandagreen.bsky.social and @atmosmag.bsky.social is out:
Why are famous chefs fighting PFAS bans?
The answer, in retrospect, is obvious—and it’s part of a larger campaign to stop bans on Teflon cookware nationwide.

This is the moment when more than 30 million Americans received affordable healthcare in 2010.

Today, Republicans have voted to make healthcare UNAFFORDABLE for more than 40 million.

The #RepublicanHealthCareFailure and greed will cost thousands of lives.

Vote and make Trump a lame duck in 2026.
