Perfect example of how to respond as an org when gently prompted to start doing alt text. 👍👍♥️

Other orgs and museums take note pls!
Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and we apologise that we hadn’t been using alt text previously. We’ve now added alt text to all of our scheduled posts and will be including it on all posts going forward. We really appreciate you highlighting this for inclusivity — thank you.

Little min thread on what is happening with the postponed elections if you don't really know what's happening, like me, and just went 'wtf?!!'
This is because many, many councils are redistricting at the end of the year, and will have to do full new elections next year. Elections cost a lot of money to run, so councils have been given the option to not have to do elections twice in two years (normally once every five)

A work team-building event about 15 years ago was at the old BA training centre at Heathrow. Highlight of the day for a lot of us was going down the slides from the practice fuselages.

Wheeeeeee!
Seems unfair that you only get to use the bouncy slide to get off a plane when things have gone wrong. The bouncy slide should be a treat they give to the best passengers who did the flight correctly.

I left university in 2019 with £49,600 of debt. A few months later, I became an MP and have since received a salary that puts me in the top 5% in the country. 6 years on, the repayments from my salary have brought this total to down to £48,600 - just £1,000 less.

Why (aside from the costs, indecision in what to go see etc) do I forget how cool going to see live drama is?

This rhetorical question brought to you by seeing the RSC Twelfth Night at the Barbican yesterday - it was really good

This thread gets at something I’ve been worrying over for a while now: particularly in terms of how we teach it, geology remains very much focussed on centring rocks as resources, and an unwillingness to grapple with this lies at the heart of our recruitment problem.
I appreciate this from @us.theconversation.com by Jonathan Paul.

However, I think it’s making a mistake I commonly hear geologists make with regards to current events.

I have a hunch that this mistake is one of the reasons geology programs are struggling 🧵🛠️🪨🧪

I've reached out to two 80's hardcore punk bands for lyrics licensing requests through their labels, telling them about #KeepingTime and my budget. Both times, the guys came back with, "nah go ahead, use it for free."

Punk's not dead. In fact, they're still out there, being radically kind.
