Buttons are back. Knobs are back. Dumb devices are back. Own-it-forever software is back. Print is back. Personal websites and chronological feeds are back. Touching grass is back. People keep saying 2015, but it’s not far enough. The entire 2010s were a mistake. We must retvrn to… 2009.
Amazingly, reaction times using screens while driving are worse than being drunk or high—no wonder 90 percent of drivers hate using touchscreens in cars. Finally the auto industry is coming to its senses.

This is one of the reasons the “Covid is just a flu” narrative always bothered me.

It minimized the risk of COVID while also downplaying the severity of the flu.

The flu is not a joke. It can & does kill. It can & does disable.

Please get vaccinated.

A well fitted mask like an N95 helps too!
The death of any child is tragic. We always think it will not be my child, they are healthy. Severe influenza can be unpredictable & deadly. Getting vaccinated considerably reduces dz severity and deaths. Please make sure you are vaccinated & your children are too.

instead of I don't want to talk about it, I tell people who ask of my 30 year old student who made 10 games in our community that died quickly from covid, a friend since 2008 who passed away after months of complications, few friends with long covid severe enough for years it's hard to earn a living

It's such a weird coincidence how every one of these takes always amounts to "you can use AI responsibly by using it to replace expertise I don't possess or labor I don't do :)"

To me this kind of rhetoric amounts to assigning blame to the families and communities of victims. I think how strong of a support network those individuals had is beside the point when they also had an automated system in their pocket actively harming them!

I was raised to believe that if I had any contact with a gay person I'd be at risk of catching disease. the guy raising me said they needed to be put in camps to isolate them from society. this was in like 2010 and received virtually zero pushback from anyone in my community. acceptance is -new-.
I'm 32 and we were using gay as an insult in school, trans folk only existed as a punchline for gay people, a family member once asked me if I hung out with so many trans people "because I felt sorry for them" and told others I was metrosexual to explain why I had nice clothes on

in *VANCOUVER BC*
okay going by the tv show where the teenager coming out as gay has universal support in 1987 I’m starting to think people don’t know just how *recent* any level of societal acceptance was and that being under the age of 35 means you can’t process a time when it wasn’t a settled issue

GOOD NEWS! Researchers have shown Alzheimer’s disease can be REVERSED- not just prevented. Using a potent neuroprotective compound called P7C3-A20, they found RESTORING balance to a central cellular energy molecule (NAD+) not only PREVENTED disease features but REVERSED them, EVEN at late stages.

the one thing that I wish would die is labeling japanese games as “so wacky” when something isn’t being surface level with what they’re trying to convey
unless the game sells itself as deep, the gaming community and media alike still only consider the curtains blue for 99% of games and that causes me endless pain lol

kids naturally understand how fucked up it is that we have so many people deprived of the basic resources for living. it has to be unlearned through years and years of propaganda, but boy, do we ever have a propaganda machine designed to do it.

Kind of funny that my identity online (icon wise) is just Lysithea now. I'm not quite sure how it happened but I'm fine with it. The nice part is that I take all of my icons from drawings a late friend of mine made for me so it is literally impossible for someone else to accidentally copy me lmao

much of fitness culture in the US was developed by people who literally entered sports and physical education instead of going to therapy and the attitudes around intensity and effort kinda reflect that. the smiling Jazzercise folks were right and your football coach / PE teacher was wrong

My last PC Gamer piece for 2025 just went live! Silksong might be the juggernaut that everyone's talking about, but if you like your platformers full of exploration, here's six alternatives (one of them free!) that each do something different with the formula.
I played more than 20 metroidvanias this year other than Silksong, and these are the ones doing the most creative/experimental things with the genre
Already unspooled Silksong? Here's six other platformers exploring new concepts.
