Crying listening to Rachel talk about these poor, brave women fleeing persecution. These are clearly refugees. Both the UK and France are letting refugees down. We need to be better, kinder.
Cannot stop thinking about the people I met in Calais. They deserve so much better.

The Christmas story begins with a family forced to flee violence and seek safety elsewhere. That memory calls us to stand with today’s migrants and refugees, and to choose welcome over fear as we work toward a more just and caring world.

Innocent people end up in our criminal courts.

Completely, terrifyingly innocent.

And all that stands between them and losing everything is a fair trial.

Politicians would do well to remember this when they tell us that justice is all about processing “criminals” swiftly.

“40 per cent said they’d consider voting for him as mayor: Green leader, Zack Polanski. Reassuringly, 39 per cent said they wouldn’t consider it.”

Reassuringly? No false balance here. The establishment hates @zackpolanski.bsky.social, so let’s get Greens elected!

Reading @peteapps.bsky.social‘s Show Me The Bodies. So much of this resonates with what me and my neighbours have been through and are going through. Like Grenfell, I can’t help but feel that they would not have attempted this on a less diverse and more middle class estate.

Spent a rewarding hour last night helping collect signatures for a petition to get TfL to take over the Greenwich and Woolwich lifts, which are sadly neglected by the local council. All the people we met were so happy that someone was trying to do something about it.

Ouch. Might have been better to unscrew the cycle bollards before commencing work at Mile End Junction. Reversing heavy machinery over them risks damaging the bollards and their foundations. If they are left damaged, I hope TfL/LBTH sends Thames Water the bill for the repairs.

It’s more than two years since Eastend Homes’ disastrous attempt to build flats on our flats resulted in our homes being flooded. Our homes are still being ruined. We still haven’t an explanation for how this meets building regulations. It’s like nothing was learned from #RonanPoint or #Grenfell.
