🚨 New working paper 🚨

Can LLMs with reasoning + web search reliably fact-check political claims?

We evaluated 15 models from OpenAI, Google, Meta, and DeepSeek on 6,000+ PolitiFact claims (2007–2024).

Short answer: Not reliably—unless you give them curated evidence.

The message is clear:

If you are a shipowner trying to get Russian oil, expect that you will lose your whole ship.

A Cambridge-led study of 13.9 million children in England found COVID vaccines are the safest option. The very rare, short-term risk of heart inflammation from vaccination is far lower than the risks from infection, which can cause blood clots, heart issues and severe inflammation for up to a year.
New Data Shows COVID-19 Infection Much Worse For Children Than the Vaccine

A Federal judge said that the deployment of national guard to DC is illegal. He paused the removal to not cause chaos until the after the expected appeal.

Technically, they are following illegal orders by being there.

Why aren't the Governors recalling their troops from our cities?

A DOD "Memo" saying no prosecution will happen isn't going to save you from life in a military prison for murdering civilian fisherman. Taking orders from a Fox News host who ordered you to do it isn't going to look real good to a jury.

To put a finer point on this whole thing: "Two people with direct knowledge of the operation" — presumably uniformed military leaders — are accusing the U.S. Secretary of Defense of personally ordering specific war crimes. That's a historic accusation.
Textbook war crime/extrajudicial killing

"Two survivors were clinging to the smoldering wreck. The Special Operations commander overseeing the Sept. 2 attack ... ordered a second strike to comply with Hegseth’s instructions."

Hegseth wasn't chosen as merely a Fox News buffoon who then bumbles his way into war crimes out of machismo incompetence. He was chosen specifically because he is, and has been for a long time, a proud, open, and explicit advocate of war crimes as a good thing we should do.
A chapter in Hegseth’s book is literally titled “More Lethality, Less Lawyers.”

It’s almost as if there were signs!

1. This is obviously selfish. That is hardly the worst thing Trump has said. It took that specifically?
2. It took the birth of his daughter for him to defend those who are differently abled?

Bravo, but we are not friends.
