I think there is a particular mindset that causes people to think it's more important to speak using the language of progressivism than advance actually progressive arguments and it's particularly prevalent in instagram-sharable theorizing like this
saw this, immediately got pissed off, stopped myself and considered that maybe i was being unfair or misinterpreting, then looked up who posted this and saw that they're either a cis woman or non-transitioning nonbinary w/ she/her pronouns so nah fuck this transphobic bullshit holy fuck

TIL that my mum has had to argue with multiple therapists because after telling them about her trans daughter, they would insist on calling me her son.
She told me about this like transphobic therapists were some big revelation & all I had for her was a tired shrug cause whats next, water is wet?

The fact that large parts of the German media landscape “reported” on this White nationalist fever dream of a speech by Rubio as merely reaffirming the transatlantic alliance is so far removed from reality that it truly makes me speechless.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio giving a speech that is basically an extended version of the ethnonationalist Proud Boys oath: “I'm a proud Western chauvinist, I refuse to apologize for creating the modern world.”
The Rubio speech really is appalling, and if you haven’t read it yet, you should.

One day my brain is going to break trying to balance the "im so lucky to have been able to leave the US" and the "im heartbroken i left my home" feelings. Both define my everyday life right now.

There is something so special to me about watching a cis person show genuine empathy for my experiences as a trans woman. Not "ugh, that sucks" but tears of rage or actually losing control a little when confronted with a trans experience.
My bar might be low, but those moments stick with me.

The parallel here, as a southerner, is that for a long time now northern liberals have done exactly this to the southern states. To those northern liberals - see how it feels so foolish, so callous, so dismissive to be judged this way? Do you see the necessity for class-not national- solidarity now?
I think what bothers me most about the white British rhetoric yesterday is that in the US, our most vulnerable people are being brutalized, and I cannot fathom a response to that which includes writing off every single person here

I do have to point out that even with a more-accepting society, there is a gulf between "I am okay with queers" and "I am okay with my kid being a queer". People can support LGBT rights in the abstract and then get spooked when their own precious cinnamon roll makes them a "non-traditional family".

Learned the other day that my entire team of 25 was informed that "a trans woman will be filling this post" before any of them even knew my name or I knew where I was going to be placed.
I don't know who shared it or how they knew but let's just say it doesn't exactly make me trust these people.

My wife has been HIV+ for 34 years. She’s alive today b/c work of activists who destigmatized the virus, pushed medical science to adapt & find ways to treat it, & advocated for gov health programs that helped fund her care. The current U.S. regime may want to go back in time, but we won’t let them.
