chaos, corruption, ethnic cleansing, economic stagnation. that’s what the republican party delivers when they have full control of the federal government
Quoting Ben Casselman of The New York Times

The new estimates show that the U.S. economy added just 181,000 jobs in 2025, down from the earlier estimate of 584,000 www.nytimes.com/live/2026/02...

newsom really thinks he’s cheeky palling around with MAGA fascists (Shapiro, Bannon, Kirk, etc) and believes it will help him build a powerful political coalition

but MAGA is historically unpopular and flirting around with them is not going to age well
fwiw, I think Newsom is going to have a much, much more difficult time consolidating support than clinton or biden did. 1

Even if Good and Pretti were alive today, the feds would be doing more damage to our schools, our economy, our businesses, our communities, our hospitals than any outside actor has ever done in the history of Minnesota. Shaking Tom Homan's hand and agreeing to work with him makes you a collaborator.

One reason I am so furious with state and local officials who are cooperating with ICE is because it dignifies the pretense that the ongoing occupation is only bad because officers shot people. That would be horrible even if it were true, but it's not true: it's a campaign of destruction against us.

People do not understand the long-term social and economic consequences of this endless assault. It's as if we're going through a second, local COVID epidemic, except without a dime of federal financial support. It's like the federal government is at war with the entire region.

Just discovered yet another severe harm ICE is causing: huge cutbacks at our hospitals, because patients won't come in, because ICE hangs out inside the building or by the doors and abducts people. Crushing our medical system alongside our schools and our businesses.

Every photo from Minneapolis looks like this. Cops decked out with guns and full tac gear facing off against people in bathrobes, parkas, and sweatpants armed only with whistles and cell phones.

Yet every verified MAGA chode on X dutifully calls it a riot or violent insurrection.

Lol. The phrase “for political reasons” first appears in this story in the sixth paragraph — in reference to those artists canceling their performances, not in reference to Trump or any of his Kennedy Center takeover efforts.

First time I voted I just signed my name in a book next to a printed version of my signature on the voter rolls. Worked fine.
Breaking: House passes new version of SAVE Act, worst voter suppression bill considered by Congress. Could disenfranchise:

-21 million Americans w/out access to citizenship papers
-69 mil married women who took partner’s name
-21 mil w/out valid drivers license

Bondi crashes out over Epstein: "The Dow is over 50,000 dollars! I don't know why you're laughing. You're a great stock trader as I hear, Raskin. The Dow is over 50,000 right now. The S&P at almost 7,000, and the Nasdaq smashing records. That's what we should be talking about."

This is the aftermath of an ICE kidnapping a few blocks from my home in St. Paul—an hour ago. A quiet street full of broken glass and at least three wrecked cars. The target of the kidnapping was taken away by ambulance. He was on a stretcher and covered by a sheet, though a cop said he was alive.

Centrist pundits, consultants and reps don't admit when they're wrong and keep trying to push dogshit even when polls say they're on the wrong side of an issue. They post through everything. Anyone who can't admit when they're wrong can't be trusted to lead because they're only in it for themselves
plus, the left has shown much better "party loyalty" and harm-reduction instincts in the actual voting booth than the center has. PUMA democrats bail to support the right when a more progressive candidate is on the ballot far more than leftists do when the usual centrist is.

"will you vote for newsom in the general" is designed to undermine the left opposition to him *in the primary.* it's meant to show that the left can be ignored because they'll come around or that they can be ignored because they're a lost cause. the mission *now* is to make newsom lose the primary.
democratic primary voters keep fucking up and we're trying to get ahead of it this time by letting them know that newsom isn't electable

tbh nobody should be asking leftists if they'll support newsom and leftists should mostly brush off the question. it's a divisive trap that serves *only* newsom's personal interests. he isn't the candidate, he's a shithead and nominating him would be a bad idea. useless hypothetical.

The math:

Parking spaces in the US: 1-2B (estimates vary)
Area per parking space: 250-350 square feet (includes drive aisles)
Cars in the US: 300M

Area per car: 833-2,333 square feet

Average housing square footage per American: 741

A fact that sounds like bullshit but is actually true:

There is more square footage of parking *per car* in the US than there is square footage of housing *per person.*
