Decolonising the Dungeon Crawl---

Like everything else re: decolonisation and TTRPGs discourse, this is a solved problem. There's only metric that matters:

How many creators from the colonised world are participating in and able to make a living from their games?

That's *it*.

I expect game decompilations and N64 Recompiled to be one of the big topics in the retro scene this year, so I've launched an ongoing project: keeping track of them on a page that's as nicely laid and useful out as I can make it!
Decompilation projects and N64 Recompiled PC ports (Jan 2026)

honestly gotta be said, ZSNES gotta be in the top 5 best UIs ive ever seen for a piece of software. this was magical to me was a young kid playing toy story and top gear
Oh, the weather outside is frightful,
But the fire is so delightful,
And since we've no place to go,
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! 🎶

The totally valid SNES nostalgia for a generation. And the gateway to Onett, Narshe, and Porre I'll always be grateful for. 💜

A BBS for the 90s: Excalibur.

As the fledgling World Wide Web matured, BBS's found themselves with a dilemma: do they stay the same or do they evolve? Excalibur, launched in 1993, was one of those that embraced a new Web-inspired GUI, hyperlinks, acting as that bridge between the two worlds.

what is the *true* purpose of that "freedom", as it's been articulated by the american apparatus, not in word, but in deed? and if the words do not seem to justify the deeds, which one of them is the one that belies the truth of the other more: the heart-tugging words, or the heart-breaking deeds?

pasolini once said, the only people in the world who know what it feels like to experience absolute freedom are tyrants. i think about that aphorism often, especially in contexts like this. it raises a terrible specter: if the purpose of a system is what it does, what is the purpose of "freedom"?
