Really sucks to see the Yakuza franchise, a series I would have happily called my favorite for several years, just fumble all the good will it's accumulated and make me - and plenty of others it seems - want nothing to do with it.

The original CoD MW is fascinating because basically every American who does anything of note in the story either makes things worse, dies in a horrible fashion, or both. But I also doubt that's the point, because they look and act badass, and that's enough.

“Do violent video games make you violent” as a moral panic was such a shame because it elided the position of violence in the narrative, which DOES have real implications. Playing DOOM does not make you violent, but playing COD does propagandize you into supporting the American imperial project
