my advice for having a good bluesky experience:
- make enemies immediately
- start shit in public but act morally superior for it
- get mad when you see people acting weird and make it their problem
- barge into other people's replies to scold their friends for cussing
- post pictures of weapons

I’ve been in game dev for 26 years and I can’t remember any other time where a specific tech was being insistently and persistently pushed on devs as a group in the public sphere.

My conspiracy theory about genAI in games blowing up more and more by big companies is that they’ve all got a ton of investors insisting they use genAI tools otherwise they(investors) won’t be able to bankroll em anymore

If who you're facing being people is a problem in your game about killing, why would your FIRST reaction to this be "we need to unperson them" and not "wow what if killing wasn't the default" for fucks sake its a cozy aesthetic man

The team behind Obojima not only don’t care about Ghibli outside of the aesthetic, they also fully do not understand it. They’re either complete buffoons or actively bad people and the truth likely lies in the middle.

The thing thats so insidious about using AI this way is that one of the main ways artists get hired are studios looking for art references and they find us and reach out.
This is removing a major avenue to get work if they can just generate nameless derivations of our ideas.

Facts, it’s actually so easy to find ref stuff for some art but I’ll also add something else: sometimes you can trust an artist to cook with just a sentence or two when you want something without being too specific
I've seen an indie TTRPG project through to completion, worked with half a dozen artists and never once did I have to turn to AI to provide references for any of them. I was able to cobble together collages, moodboards and references myself. Not once did I have to turn to image generators.
