‘Death remains my intimate shadow partner. It has been with me since birth, always hovering close by. I understand one day we will finally waltz together into the ether. I hope when that time comes, I die with the satisfaction of a life well-lived, unapologetic, joyful, & full of love.’

Lots of tears for this loss. Alice, you taught us so much. I can’t believe you’re not here. Thank you for everything.

Abby Holcombe of the River Forest Methodist Church, another plaintiff shot with pepper balls: "I have one more message for Greg Bovino, Kristi Noem, the ICE agents who shot at me and all other ICE agents and president Trump: God is always on the side of the oppressed. So which side are you on?"

“From the 1950s to the 1970s, federal contractors building the system deliberately mapped routes that rammed through and dismantled Black neighborhoods — payback, some say, for gains made during the Civil Rights Movement.”
Why Do Highways Run Through Black Neighborhoods?
The documentary “Interstate” exposes how highway routes are by design.

I have known Q for over 20 years and they are amazing. Can you help or share their need?
To exist until my benefits are transferred — I.e., buy food and afford gas to get to medical appointments 2 hours away — I need to raise at least $1000 more. I’m sorry. Please share?

A group of hundreds of faith in coalition who started at a Maywood church just arrived at the detention center for a eucharistic procession.

They want to offer communion to detainees inside, but won't be able to get past the barricades and fence on Beach Street.

This is a piece I did five years ago called “Shiprah and Puah: Midwives of Resistance.” After all these centuries, they continue to be examples of what it means to be faithful and defiant in the face of evil and power. May we be inspired by their faithfulness and courage.

This is *extremely* dangerous. ICE detained people, including a family with 3 children, in an office building basement in California without enough food or water. Rampant human rights abuses daily.

I’ve noticed my exhaustion and constantly playing games on my phone as a distraction from the real sorrow I feel about the events unfolding in our state, nation, and world. It’s okay to feel the sadness, friends. This is not the way it should be.
